Well - at least they've got some odds and ends of timbers to burn in the winter! wobble

The way they're spending money they are going to need those carp to ward off the hunger fairly soon.

The editing on that was 'interesting' - maybe in the future try not to include shots in a room where the pump and sink are there, disappear, reappear, go out the window, are then shown back in place being worked around, reappear prior to any of the work then are in situ with all the other original junk while debating the 'late' crisis about the door being too small.

On the other hand it was interesting to see all that wood holding the floor together, serious timbers in that even if the old bathroom had rotted it.

Making the holes line up is trivial if you start with smaller holes and a plumb bob. Not a lot of measurement needed like they did?

Not sure I'd have hack those beams around too much as the outside shots seemed to show the tower wasn't exactly round any more, you can see a line up it with a crack and it starting to tuck/fold in at one of the decor bands and one of the windows sills.

Centre hole through the floor at the top, laser level down to next floor, repeat until on the ground floor shirley?

You could do that but a weight and a bit of string is much simpler and guaranteed vertical.

Sounds like a plot for a sci fi porn film.

How much do we think this lift is costing then?

Could be this?

I thought that. The way he talked about it and then did the demo with the hoover and clear pipe... I said to teh missu "He can't be making this himself!!"
"Oh hes quite handy. He makes all sorts of things."
"Yeah, but a lift is a bit of a leap in the 'opportunity for disaster' stakes compared to a pig cooker!"

Thankfully for everyone involved, he's buying one

I thought they didn't have any "money"?

He should be making it out of "a wire coat hangar and a pair of Val's old knickers"....

They must be getting something from the tv company I would have thought, in the first series he went back to the UK to do some paying work.

He'll be on a full army pension besides all the TV money, past and present. Thats not to say it couldn't all go into the chateau and some without even touching the sides.

I expect they have several income streams. As mentioned there's his pension.

Also, his wife has a business in her own right: The Vintage Patisserie. She appeared on Dragon's Den!
That would explain where all the vintage waitresses came from in the last episode of the first series...

I think Dick is a great presenter, and to that end I hope that they make a success of it.

I really enjoyed the first series and this seems more of the same. Could do with there being more stuff like this on TV.
