Rillington Place is the red marked street on the current map, number 10 and it's garden is where the arrow is.

OK, still Notting Hill, W11, but the Ladbroke Grove end. So make that £2.5m.

Just a tree now, so not £2.5m. Memorial garden.

Watched last night's episode and I couldn't fathom why the actor playing Timothy Evans was speaking in a London accent most of the time but when he was speaking to his mother he had acquired a Welsh accent. In the film John Hurt spoke with a Welsh accent all the time.

Where are the details of the murders themselves? They seemed to have skipped all the gory details.

An old school friend did that, Surrey accent for his mates and Scottish for his family. It does happen.

John Barrowman is well known for it. Grew up in America so gained American accent to stop the bullying but still has a Scottish accent for his family.

Bonus PH points for there being a 1990's Lotus Elan in the foreground of the pic.

Watched it last night - it was excellent. The recreation of the house and street to look like the original was impressive - what a dump. Hell.

It's the extra background to the story that makes it.

It's phenominal TV, Tim Roth is outstanding, it's like watching a demented Wallace and Gromit film.

Also its uncanny how similar Tom Roth playing John Christie is to 'Norris' on Coronation Street.

Yep - brilliant find doogalman smile

I once did a survey in an old block of flats off Russell Square W1.

I was in the basement & there were some storage vaults under the road, separated from the above ground building perimeter by those glass block skylights.

It was early morning & not quite light outside so very murky once away form the main part of the basement. A quick flick of torchlight along the passageway revealed something akin to the old B&W photos of the alcove in Christie's kitchen - which instantly came to mind at the same time as I heard a noise behind me.

When I clocked the large, old, stained mattress half folding over on itself having been leant up against the end wall, I decided it was time to leave. NOW.

I've had a few moments of panic whilst survey old buildings, this one was up the list but by far the worst was an old Victorian Asylum which had a sitting tenancy of bats.

Maybe it's because I've become a parent for the 1st time this year, but one of the most uncomfortable moments I've seen in TV/Film was when Timothy Evans handed over his daughter to Christie. It was skin crawling stuff.

Apparently Roth's portrayal of the man is a little wide of reality though (albeit not that surprising)

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv...

and whilst Googling for that this interview with Roth cropped up, where he discusses his and his father's abuse at the hands of his grandfather frown

Completely O/T but if you enjoy snooping round old places like this there are some fascinating pics on http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/
I often fall into a vortex of all the disused Military and Asylum pics.

We have watched the last two episodes, and TBH, it pales in comparison to the Richard Attenborough movie. Wasn't Timothy Evans Welsh, as gloriously portrayed by John Hurt, and I am sure he didn't have a 'Jafaiken' accent?

Same, I know that site well - I posted my survey pics up for the asylum but I think they got wiped when the site was offline for a while.
