Taboo - Starting This Saturday
Discussion
Thoroughly enjoyed the most recent episode. Disagree with those who think it's too slow - it's loaded with atmosphere, arty sets and period (ish) effects which more than fill any gaps. People on here moaned about Westworld which has one of the most indecipherable and convoluted plots possible - yet it was all plot! My only gripe is we won't be seeing OOna Chaplin writhing on a bed again. "I have a use for you" was a very good finish after what the Delaney character has been through.
What's the difference between waiting for the gates to be battered down, lots of soldiers pouring in, you kill some of them, they kill some of you, then jumping on a ship and sailing away; against just jumping on a ship and sailing away, all intact? What am I missing? Were they waiting for something?
Series 2, presumably without Jonathan Pryce, will have to go some in episode 1 to keep my attention.

Andora. Not to be confused with Andorra, or is it? Either way, some of the passengers might feel they are trapped on board with a madman.
I don't know what I'm now going to fill the void left on Saturdays' mid-evenings with.
I agree. Fantastic series.I don't know what I'm now going to fill the void left on Saturdays' mid-evenings with.
Never mind I expect the BBC will replace it with some wky singing and dancing st.

This has been a really good series though, I didn't mind it being slow, and it was good to have something dark to get into, not something that's a Dr Who/Merlin/Musketeers slot Saturday evening show with a few swear words to justify a 9pm showing.
Well I really enjoyed it, a step up from lots of other "drama" and at least for once it isn't a remake of some Bronte or other which has been done countless times before.
Yes there were ploy holes galore, but its pretty hard to write an totally cast iron story these days, so some suspension of disbelief is still required.
On my set up they neither mumbled, nor was it too dark, in fact I thought it was slick and well made.
As for a slow plot, jeez get a grip. Go back and watch Smileys People (the original) or many other similar more challenging pieces, they all have moments of "slow burn"
Personally I thought all the bits came together pretty well in the final two episodes.
9/10 - yes would have liked a few more punches thrown, but a big step up on strictly or the voice or casualty for a Saturday ...
Well I enjoyed it so much I have bought the t-shirt.
