And that's fine, but I'm not calling you a weirdo for it.

I also gave up on The Wire within 10 minutes, and dare I even mentioned that I will not even entertain the notion of watching GoT!

tongue out
I've watched the first episode of the Wire twice. Everyone raved over it so thought I'd give it another go. My reaction was that the accents were poor (Johnny English villain!) and it was pretty standard American don't have to think crime TV stuff. Nothing entertaining, groundbreaking or special. There was none of the cinematography of a Braking Bad or dry humour of a Sopranos. In fact there wasn't anything to draw you in at all. I can't say if it's a good series or not as I didn't enjoy the first episode to the point that I refused to watch any more.

GoT must be good as I normally hate fantasy type stuff but this is a great character driven piece.

Out of curiosity, what have you enjoyed?
Ha ha - Does sound a bit like that smile

Recently - Line of Duty, Prey, first couple of series of Mad Dogs, Mad Men (although I never really got what it was about...), River, Vikings, Braquo, The Bridge, Endeavour, George Gently, The Last Kingdom, first series of Broadchurch, Ripper Street, plenty really, honest smile.

I've just bought Gormenghast on DVD as I recall enjoying the weirdness of that. I was a big fan of The Shield too, so I can do long story arch American TV series if they capture my attention and I struggle to think of a single character in that, that wasn't played to perfection.

Looking forward (hopefully) to SS-GB and a few other BBC series coming up.

I really liked the first series of Sherlock and I'll happily sit down and watch Midsommer Murders and Father Brown, so I'm not terribly fussy, but not everything is for everyone.

I gave up on Happy Valley after a couple of episodes. I didn't think it was bad, it was just so unremittingly grim, which I can usually deal with, but for some reason, it was too much for me at the time.

I used to love the Walking Dead, but my patience is wearing thin with it.

Of course, you miss the chance that you'll love something with time. I think a whole series of GOT was enough for me to know it wasn't for me. Tits and Dragons? Nah... The Wire, well maybe one day I'll try again, but like many of the American serials (Breaking Bad, Prison Break, Lost, etc), I know I'll have to commit to a lot of TV watching if I do, so I can live without them.

I definitely don't enjoy binge watching (I'll get bored with 2 episodes of anything back to back). Maybe it's an age thing, but I love a cliffhanger ending and knowing I have to wait a week or even until the next series to know what happens.

Braquo ended a couple of weeks ago. The main character had been shot and was in a bad way. Was he dead? Would he pull through...? We'll NEVER know, they're not making any more - I think that's brilliant!

understandable, I found most of series 1 hard work, due to number of characters and mumbling with US accent/slang - if you can be bothered it really rewards, watched first 3 series, need to get to the others

To be fair I watched season 1 and a bit of season 2 of Sons of Anarchy and thought it was nothing special. Didn't bother with the rest then came back to it a few years later and watched the whole lot. I got into it more after a break. If it turns up on my other halves favourite channel (Alibi) I might end up watching the Wire by default and getting into it.

It was the slang that I disliked.

Dafuk confused

Couldn't possibly be further from the truth. At all.
And it was made by all the same production (writers, editors, directors, cameramen etc) team who made Sopranos.

Well that continues to both develop and surprise!

Some great performances. For example I like the Gatiss in this - where his involvement in Sherlock was really beginning to grate - and Pryce is perfect. Hayman, Watkins and Kelly are all class too.

Overall Tom Hardy is making some smart moves in getting into codirecting such an impressive work.

Not sure where this is going, but some great black comedy in the twists so far.

Am only up to episode 2 (so no spoilers please) so far but think this is the best drama on right now. Am I the only one who hasn't seen The Wire? Is it on Netfilx?

Really enjoying this. Beautifully filmed. Some very funny lines with Bryce asking Hardy's character if he can get the gun to shoot the alleged widow.

My favourite line was Watkins "what did you do to him Stuart? Assume I already know."
