Nearest and Dearest.

All the eps exist, and it's less sexist and racist than On the Buses, George and Mildred and other 1970s
sitcoms that ITV regularly show.

I'm a fan, but it's still a bit of a mystery why it's not been rerun, all the major cast members have passed on with maybe
the exception of Madge Hindle [ Lily ].

The thin blue line. There were only 2 series and the first is on Prime.

'Your cock-up, my arse'.

One of my favourites.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm late for my morning movement.

And variations thereof - “It’s my arse that’s on the line Raymond and I don’t want a cock up!”
biggrin

Underrated comedy imo, Kevin funny too.

Wasn't that on one of the Freeview channels recently? I know one of them was, but I can't remember which one. In any case - DVD box sets at car boot sales are dead cheap these days. Because this thread reminded me of it, I bought "The Brothers" (BBC drama from the early 70s) series 1 on DVD the other week. It was 20p.

It was but dreadful low quality bit rate and looked worse than VHS.

I quite like The New Avengers and would like to see it again.

Yes Minister & Prime Minister

Fantastic, also great for some of my US colleagues who want to understand the UK & our politics a bit.

'who reads the newspapers' , 'Humphrey explains the EEC', 'go to work on a sausage', 'the purpose of an enquiry' - all very funny and still accurate

I absolutely loved Monkey Dust, think some of the sketches cut a bit too close to the bone to be shown nowadays.
Yeah, Monkey Dust was magic

Van Der Valk is to be re run on Talking Pictures TV a week Thursday 18th April.
Van Der Valk I remember for the theme tune below and the link of later series to Euston Films

Van Der Valk theme
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OV8t3jA-krc

Talking Pictures TV is a real genuine gem and I have seen some cracking stuff on there. Anyone into old cars/old London there are reruns of stuff like The Edgar Wallace Mysteries/Scales of Justice. Loads of old common as muck vehicles now no longer seen

Van der Valk Trailer here:
https://talkingpicturestv.co.uk/this-months-traile...
Public Eye replaces Van Der Valk next week.
I assume I'm not the only one suffering very poor picture quality on Talking Pictures?

That's been on as well, fairly recently, somewhere around channel 61 or 62. I didn't see it when it was new (we didn't watch ITV) so it was good to see.

Don’t Wait Up. Charming, if a little twee by today’s standards, 80s sitcom.

DVD of series 1&2 readily available but remaining series are elusive......

Just thought of another one "The Bionic Man". I thought the start was so cool (and real) when I was a child.

Then thinking about it...to have that strength he would also have to have a replacement back bone and ribs otherwise he would snap.

I've no idea why I typed that. I meant The Six Million Dollar Man obviously.

hopefully with the young Susan Penhaligon and not the remake.
Jason King
The Invaders
The Saint
Goes without saying, Shirley... biggrin

Recently ploughed through the DVDs of The Saint and Jason King, despite a few ropey episodes they both still managed to hit the right spot.

Also - Department S, The Protectors, UFO and a probably long forgotten series called Thick As Thieves from 1974, with John Thaw and Bob Hoskins as a pair of old lags.
Thick as Thieves is available on DVD

Such a cool picture.

Also threads is or certainly was on YouTube in it's entirety. It's still terrifying.
