About 5pm Sunday afternoon.

Bowen looked old when the show started, but was only 45.

yikes

Anyone remember the celeb special that Steve "Wrighty" Wright appeared on?

They did a new one with Dave spikey recently IIRC.

Always a joy to see the people in the audience on the early episodes.

Obviously mis-remembering. It was around dinner time, though, wasn't it? I'm sure I recall watching it in our kitchen on a black and white set.
If I had to guess I'd say around 5pm, possibly a touch later.
Yes a tad later at 6pm before the news but a great show - nothing in this game for 2 in a bed !

A teenager at the time. Straight after the show, I'd be out to the garage where the dartboard was to see if I could get 101 or more with six darts. It was and still is tricky.

Did they film it in Stoke? I thought it was somewhere local as I know a couple of people that went to see it.

A lot of comics were like that in those days. I once attended a "blue" Bob Monkhouse evening and it was withour doubt the best live show I've ever seen. The man was a genius.

Great.Super.Smashing.
BBC showed an adult Bob Monkhouse stand up. I will admit I was in stitches, very funny man!

They've got more canals than Venice though (allegedly) but perhaps a fraction less charisma. smile

Have been tuning into these every morning (3 or 4am ish - insomnia!). Love 'em biggrin But why are the "darts players" so dreadful? It's like most of them have not only thrown a dart before, but not even SEEN a pro do it on the tele to get an idea (ie, not throwing your entire body at the board). Some woman "darts player" a few nights ago, who apparently played for a pub team, struggled to reach the board with her throws (all in lower 3 or 19)

Some nice clips

Mostly filmed in Brum apparently, last few series were made in Nottingham.

They did sometimes change the star prize..... Jim has told the story of two that went on to the final and all day that had acted like wkers. Really arrogant.

They didn't get 101 but the signal was given to replace the boat or caravan with a Car just so they could say this is want you would have won.... and then reveal the car
