Watched 1&2, quite entertaining, not massively hooked as yet but will give it some more time.

Just finished it. Excellent! Not sure about some of the casting, but oh well. It’s a lot better than the radio version that the BBC did recently. Very little was as I pictured it, but that’s okay. The book will always be one of my favourites.

Sheen and Tennant make a superb double act. They should work together more. My only regret is that Pratchett and Gaiman never wrote another book together.

“God” and Anathema mostly. And Beelzebub. Not sure about Michael either. All good actors, just not quite “right” somehow.

On the other hand, I think they got the Them spot on, especially Adam. And the lawyer with the box, Hastur and Ligur and the delivery man. Three of the Four were superb, but somehow I never pictured Death as having Brian Cox’s voice...

Mt fave Death is still Christopher Lee, thought Ian Richarson is a very close second.
Not seen it yet, so can't comment, but I'm now quite curious to watch it. Casting of course is always intriguing when it's a piece of work one knows well.

I never pictured Anathema as a septic. I always imagined her as a young Josie Lawrence when I read the book, possibly as she was on TV a lot back then. (She was good as an older version tough smile)
I guess this was teh Amazon influence, but as Gaiman wrote & produced this I guess he is happy

I'm guessing you mean American? American money, American bosses. From what I understand it was a daily tug of war for one corner. Even a writer with the swing of Neil doesn't get all his own way, plus he is trans-atlantic now anyway really.

I thought that might be it. Having an American in Tadfield, which was meant to be a kind of typical 1950s archetypal English village, all scrumping for apples and tea at 4, just grates with me a bit. And I think my views on Frances M being “God” stem from the fact that Neil Gaiman voiced God in one of the Lucifer episodes, and nobody likes a cover version. hehe

Not only that, but I think the whole premise of the Prophecies ever being taken out of Tadfield and kept in the US just feels wrong.

Ah well. Globalisation, innit?

Rik Mayall would have been great as either main lead!
As would Alan Rickman. But Sheen and Tennent are brilliant.

Just watched the first episode and it was quite good.

I'm a bit distracted watching Tennant though as it appears he has gone to the Bill Nighy school of acting in order to play this part and it is a bit weird.

Just finished watching it last night. Never read the books, so can't comment on casting and so on. Overall enjoyed the two main characters, but I thought Tennant spent the first couple or three episodes trying not to be Captain Jack Sparrow.

Enjoyed it but found that pacing a bit slow and the humor a little too whimsy for me.

I gave up after 15-20 minutes, I just couldn't get in to it.

After pretending to be thick thinking it was about the Damien films I decided to watch it
Spurred on by the wifes Amazon prime membership trial.
It's really good a bit hard to follow in parts and the voice over can get annoying.
Its very witty in parts and incredibly stylish. David Tennant and Martin Sheen are very good and many of the other players are well up there too.
Famine's scenes had us howling with laughter at some points.
David Morriseys part in episode 4 is a standout

One thing though. Whenever Gabriel pops up he reminds both in appearance and characterisation of Kevin Spacey. It's almost as if he (Spacey) was playing the part.

It's genuinely great

Oh wow, yeah God was miscast, and very lazy, and I'm a big fan of Frances as well, but she didn't get any of the jokes, it was a bit ste. Michael again was wrong.

Just binge watched it and it does the book justice, and I can't say better than that. Even with an American Anathema. Sheen and Tennant, brilliant. My favourite cameo - Andy Hamilton. Need to read the book again now...

I'm going to try a second time. Tried episode 1 but fell asleep just past half way through it. Wasn't feeling any interest in the first half. For me to nod off in front of the telly is a very unusual occurrence. But I was bored with the character intros. Will give it a second chance though.
