A big improvement this week. I really like MLB, and Harris was much better. Rory Reid is still irritating alas, as is the horse faced Shouty Kraut - wish they'd lose those two but at least we had a lot less of them.

Yeah, a good episode more in keeping with old TG.

Disappointed with the Chiron review, driving it up and down a runway didn't give any indication of the ability of the car. Should have put it next to a boggo supercar and perhaps a quick road car to see comparative performance. Thought the sitrpc, was the best yet, at least he liked cars, previous guests weren't exactly petrol heads. He also looked disappointed with his time so it actually mattered to him which is good.
I like MLB, Harris is a wooden top but at least he can drive, Rory, spare part, more Siabine please.

Why do they keep rolling out Sabine on to the show? She's just an annoying shouty woman (who can drive rather well).

The city car race was good, I could imagine they used a bunch of touring car drivers and were going to crash into each other. The Chiron is very impressive in a straight line. It looks about as agile as an elephant on rollerskates in the corners though.

The SIARPC just needs to be ditched completely, it works in no format/variation which has been used.

What a contrast to last week's brilliant episode frown

The guest didn't say anything interesting at all, the pacman game was stupid and I hate fake "races" with artificial drama. They didn't even review the bike. Can't nail it every week I guess.
thats basically been top gear for the last 7 years.

Enjoyed it. Like the rest of the series so far it was pretty solid in terms of content and they seem to be gelling. Matt's 'we could have held hands and everything' line at end of the Oman film made me chuckle.

Pacman thing was well made and nicely ended with the Stig but ultimately wasn't a particularly engaging watch, but you can't win them all.

I like how they're bringing in some signature gags, such as Matt watching a big digger video on the Honda Jet.

The studio sequences are still a bit wooden, but the films themselves aren't.

I thought the runway got exactly to the ability of the car- top speed and bhp bragging rights. They said they couldn't put it round the track, so perhaps they weren't allowed to compare it to other cars.

I think you're being pedantic. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Enjoyed that one as much as last week's.

All you moaners, I really do wonder what you want from Top Gear, it's a well shot hour of car stuff that has to appeal to non car people too. confused
This.

Well said, sir. The moaners will continue as it is their perceived right to do.

I missed the first half hour as the Moto GP from Qatar got delayed due to rain(!!!!!!). Really good race with some amazing overtaking, so it was a bit of an anticlimax to watch TG! In saying that, looking at the bling & downright vulgarity of Dubai was quite an eye opener. I wonder how much that cost to put together?

I quite enjoyed the episode personally. No major complaints from me. A solid effort all round.

A reasonable enough episode.
How anyone can actually criticise a review of a £2m car is beyond me. It's all about the looks and the figures. How it actually drives is largely irrelevant as the average viewer will never get to see one, let alone see one driving, let alone have a go
Paceman game was a bit tedious but absolutely no different to the car football or car ice hockey that the other lot used to do.
Dubai race.....yep. Entirely staged but great to watch.....just like every other TG "race"
So far, I'd say this series is consistently ok. It's not epic just yet like the occasional old TG was (note: occasional), but they seem to be serving their apprenticeship well such that when they graduate we should see some great TV.

Agreed - clever use of the signature gag, as it's slightly varied and not fking blindingly obvious / tedious each time.

You're right abut the studio bits. MLB becomes "Joey" and Harris just doesn't look comfortable at all. I'm quite enjoying the banter, without it seeming as overtly scripted as C/H/M.

yes Nice easy finish to the weekend with a cheeky scotch, as far as I'm concerned.

Mrs P is happy to have it on too, which she refused either of the predecessors (and the new GT) which says they are doing something right.

we only know that because we know he's an actor.
CHM were all acting to a certain extent. James May is no slouch behind the wheel yet got "cast" as Captain Slow because the character fitted the show.
I'm pretty such the "How you doin'?" naivety is turned on specifically to counter the excitable Top Trump player of Harris.

Actually the notable difference was that while they had a couple of bumps they didn't go out of their way to smash the cars up for fun.

Unlike the other bunch who would have been bouncing off the containers and each other from the start.

Indeed, it's the only TV I've seen recently that has managed to keep my OH awake after 11.00pm (we were watching it recorded last night). I thought it was a bit 'slow' in places but overall still a decent enough hours worth of TV. Not as good as some old TG, but also not as bad as some old TG either. Certainly better than anything that was served up with Chris Evans.

What's the 'gag' with the diggers and Joey? I spotted the video of the digger on the Jet and it was clearly an in gag, but I can't think why. confused

I enjoyed the latest show. was good to get a bike in even if a little slower than mine but 3 times more expensive wink

Re the Bugatti Chiron

if it's still early days with this car, production, Tyres etc.... why Did one with Brad Pitt drive past me almost a year ago at Le mans for the 24 hour in June 2016

How long have they had these in pre production?

And to add the best bit of the show for me was the banter at the end with Matt and Chris. as already mentioned it did seem natural and what we want from the presenters
