Anyone else cringe when Rory Reid says 'Let's do this'?

No, seriously! My karma is good regarding the ginger tt at the moment.

Last word on the subject - what a lot of people don't know about him (although you don't have to dig too far to find evidence) is that he's lost a lot of people a lot of money (himself included), going back as far as the Virgin radio/SMG days (who at least successfully managed to sue him and recover most of their losses).

For all his public facing success he is a liability - someone who initially invests heavily in projects in terms of his time backed by other peoples' money, but then he gets all pissy and walks off because he isn't as good at his job as he initially gives the impression of and doesn't like it when he is asked by his backers to show some quality because the job has turned out to be harder than it looks, or he has lost interest and found a 'better offer'.

Top Gear (and his bailing on TFIF revival) was the latest high-profile example, this time at the licence-payers' expense.

[/end of subject]
Not to mention the BBC getting rid of Alex Lester and Janice Long due to cutbacks on the overnight shows but carry on paying tosspot on the breakfast show his huge salary, he must have some dirt on the higher echelons of the BBC.

Nope. I did too.

Was sort of excited until I saw the extended trailer, now I'm not sure what to expect. Everything looked forced and unnatural.

Or how about you just wait until you see it on Sunday, then judge it eh? Instead of on the basis of a short trailer.

Actually, how about everyone waits until Sunday, then comes on here and complains about how it isn't as good as it used to be, everything is crap and that they'll never ever watch it again. Ever.

Then do EXACTLY THE F**KING SAME THE FOLLOWING WEEK.

Rory just seems to try a little bit too hard to be 'streetwise'. I suspect that the producers are trying to force him into a 'character' that he isn't completely comfortable with.

Haven't seen the extended trailer but it'll be interested to see how the show stacks up to TGT. I thought that the first season was actually pretty OK overall and if they have properly addressed the flaws, it could be pretty entertaining.

It's not the producers. This was Rory's own idea pre-TG:

Good point.

Beefy's argument pretty much amounts to 'the appetiser tasted off, but don't judge the meal until you've had the main course (which incidentally is made from the same ingredients)'.

Indeed. What is the point of this thread? It is to discuss the upcoming TG which Beefy appears to not understand as it has not yet been aired. So it is voicing opinions and hope based on the limited anecdotal evidence that we have been provided, the trailer. A trailer that appears to show nothing about the quality a few have alleged from attending recordings. The trailer shows 3 very awkward characters and some "police" chase, oh fking big whoop. That is unfortunately setting my expectations as it is the official intro to the series. Of course I will watch it and of course I hope it is good.

TG has for years been stool water thanks to the perceived funny challenges. The challenges were once epic before they became three s in some jaunt at license payers expense. The original 3 appeared to recognise this as their very last series was the first I found I couldn't skip, it had returned to great form before the publicity stunt. TGT then started out bloody epic before sliding into 3 s in some jaunt at Prime payers expense but still a lot better than a lot of their previous TG content.

So all we currently have to look forward to, according to the trailer, is MLB in some sort of military/police vehicle, CH doing some sort of Ferrari suck off and Rory doing whatever the fk he does, what does he do?

The "knob came off joke" = brilliant
The "crashed cars in container park" = original
The "MLB I whooped you Chris" comment with CH's natural laugh = slick
The "sports cars racing up a snow covered field" = brilliant

Or you could all just chill out, watch the fking show and enjoy a car program being on telly.

I really don't know why people on here have to dissect every bit of it and can't just enjoy watching it?

Oh right, because this is PH and is full of joyless, lifeless pedants who have nothing better to do.

I'm off, any comments aimed my way won't be read.

I'm on the fence after seeing the trailer.
Some decent..current vehicles
some good locations...
some attempt at humour.
and that's where the danger lies as...script and humour (entertainment quality)
But there's only one thing we know for sure; It'll deliver on it's low-level 'hype' and reflect the programme title properly.

And I'm pretty confident there won't be repeated crap gags that don't work

good point.... a mildy amusing catchphrase/joke started by Clarkson, and perpetuated by Evans and dragged further by LeBlanc.
If only Clarkson had been funny in the first place eh...

still it was/is better than the "famous people dying shock"...or any of other badly scripted and badly delivered stuff CHM have done of late..

But the death of a star each week was funny and original.

the death of a star was mildy funny-ish and original the first week.
Then it was neither.
It just got more and more cringeworthy and naff.
