I'm a Harris convert. Was watching his reviews the other day and I thought about those who criticise him and wondered who they think would do a better job of it.
Jeremy Clarkson?

Imo it just needs to strike out on its own, and be assured in doing it.

It'll never be the old Clarkson, Hammond & May Top Gear - and the people who expect it to be will never be satisfied. Some of them may never be prepared to cut it any slack while it's still calling itself Top Gear.

The big mistake they made last season was trying to ape the old formula, with manufactured camaraderie. CHM weren't as self-assured as they are now without years of working together, honing the formula. Top Gear needs to move on.

As long as it can strike a balance between not being as bland as Fifth Gear, and not overtly staged like Grand Tour, then it should be alright.

I expect it will do the usual job of straddling between a car show and an entertainment show - GT skewed towards entertainment, so if this can be a bit more car biased I think we'll have a good balance of shows to watch.

Cam already tell, however that it isn't going to be as visually spectacular, mostly as it isn't being broadcast in HDR. One way terrestrial TV is really starting to lag behind the streaming services.

My tv isn't hdr, I cannot say I need it. Hdr is like 3d, a fad

Ten years ago hdr photography was the next best thing.

HDR is here to stay. It's a natural evolution of the technology, unlike 3D or (IMO) 360° VR.

Don't really care about HDR. Time will tell.

Overdone HDR looks cack. Understated HDR you can barely tell the difference. I'm out.

Just want to say, I wish the guys the very best for the success of their show. It's a hell of a challenge to take on, but I hope they crack it.

Time will tell, but I wish them all the very best.

Yep. I'm going to have an open mind. With the ginger one I remember him not being able to drive and talk at the same time when he was a guest.

I do wonder about the Evans series. They gave Chris Evans FULL creative control apparently. Mistake. I wonder, if they had put him in the same boat, pecking order wise, as the other presenters it might not have been so bad. Maybe he wouldn't have gone along with it but it was a ego trip for him nonetheless which spoilt it.

Anyway, looking forward to LeBlanc and Harris getting things done, wonder if they can carry the humour? Should think so. That other chap, he hasn't floated my boat but I'll give him time. Don't try too hard, be yourself is my advice.

Eddie gets on my nerves. Schmidt is ok, more time behind the wheel taking the mickey out of Harris maybe and she'll be a winner...

All in HD with the Beebs talent at creative video editing and the set pieces will look, predictably, spectacular I think.

I used to do that towards the end of JC's TG shows. With the ginger one I turned off after one show.

Good luck to the new team. It's time to stop comparing and to sit back and enjoy what we get. It won't be perfect. But at least it's back.

I'll be tuning in to give it a go.

I can't abide Evans, so it was a non-starter for me last time around.

His demise didn't surprise me one bit - I was more surprised that anyone thought he was the right person (even he said he didn't at first - Although his lack of humility clearly didn't allow this rare insight to prevent his taking the job!).

I thought the GT was a bit hit and miss, if new TG can match that I'll give it a go.
