Watched Iron Man 2 the other night. Surely a major plot point of the films is that the suits are powered by the arc reactor in his chest (see the first Iron Man film where he has to use the old reactor and runs out of power)?

So what the hell is powering the suit Rhody takes?

So what other films have you watched and wondered if the writer or director had even read the rest of the script?

Lol, an arc reactor also powers the suit that Mickey Rourke wore with the electro whips in IM2 and it's just part of the suit too. Having it embedded in your chest is optional, not a pre-requisite. Tony Stark only does it because he already has a big whole in his chest, he also uses it to power the magnet that is keeping shrapnel from entering his heart and probably thought it just looked cool. Lots of films have plot holes but this isn't one of them. wink

The whole Israel - Cardiff flight thing in World War Z. Plane crashes helpfully close enough to the lab, plus I also remember one of the characters saying that if BP injects himself he'll be dead for sure, yet manages to live with no ill effects.

I'm probably being stupid, but i can never understand the scene in Die Hard when John McClane meets Hans Gruber and Gruber pretends to be someone called Bill Clay (as he saw that name on the employee board).

How does McClane know he's not Bill Clay? Never understood it.

Or what is an employee directory board doing up at the top of the building?

I've never understood the scene in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince where the Weasleys' house gets burnt down by Death Eaters but wasn't in the book or referred to again either in the film or subsequent films.

Good one, I've never been able to figure it out either!

Tie fighters, why the hell would you have a fighter then stick massive fins on the side that the pilot can't see past?

How the hell can you dog fight in that?

It's been a while since I've seen it but if in a siege situation with loads of highly professional bad guys running around the place then it would be fairly foolish to hand a loaded gun to some stranger you've just met. Especially so when that stranger is hanging around where the explosives to blow the roof are set and as 'Bill CLay' states he's never really shot a gun, giving him one with no bullets probably isn't going to make much difference in a fire fight but may encourage him to reveal himself if he is in fact a bad guy.

Not knowing for sure whether he's Bill Clay or not McLane gives him an unloaded gun just in case. This proves to be a wise decision when Clay starts speaking German into his walkie talkie confirming McLane's instinct to be cautious. That's my take anyway.

Also, McClane's a cop; he'll have a nose for when somethings not right. He mentions Gruber's accent as well, it maybe didn't sound quite right.

Doesn't he spy on them from above in the lift? After the 'ive got a machine gun ho ho ho' bit. So he saw glimpses of height, clothing and hair and is already suspicious of him.

Yes, as above, Bruce is just generally suspicious; why is this guy on the roof? How did he get there? Why is he in fancy European tailoring? So he uses the empty pistol as a test.

While we're on the theme: die hard 2. Much of the dramatic tension comes from the planes running out of fuel. But no plane would ever arrive at an airport without sufficient fuel to reach an alternate. If Holly's plane was likely to be running on fumes by the time they were on the approach, they would already have diverted.

If you're going to start attacking Die Hard 2 on points that make no sense, we're in for a long haul! hehe

I thought the airport in Die Hard 2 was the alternate? Everyone else had shut because of the weather hence it being an issue when lots of planes turn up at their alternate to find that a bunch of terrorists had taken over and had shut down everything apart from the outer marker?
