online seller for laurel plants?

can anyone reccomend a decent online seller for laurel plants that will deliver , looking for something arounf 5ft tall , maybe 20-30 plants

Careful where you put laurel if in a more rural area - it's poisonous to some (most I think) animals.

Hedgesdirect or ashridge nurseries are good. On balance, if they have them, I'd go with ashridge. If they don't have what you want on their website, give them a call.

I don't believe sheep and horses do well on it.

(Can't find the DEFRA link in my quick Googling).

Farmer next door to me asked if the Laurel on one side of my property could be removed due to the risks (I think a couple of his sheep were taken ill by it). Previous owner (an ex-farmer and somewhat cantankerous it seems) planted it and wouldn't remove it.

Needless to say it's gone from wherever the farm animals can get to it.

Not to mention semi-plausible urban legends about people being overcome by cyanide fumes whilst transporting laurel trimmings in their cars to the dump.

I removed laurel plants because I have horses. They're def deadly to horses. The hubster wishes I hadn't taken them out. The hedges, not the horses.



Kidding, he loves paying for them, I'm sure.

I planted a 100m laurel hedge with horses one side and cattle the other, no issues other than the cattle hitting it too hard.

Neighbouring farmer planted some at the same time and he had some sheep escape and graze it to the ground. They were fine and his hedge grew back much the better for it as well.

We did transplant the laurel from some old woodland so I presume it's a native variety.

I do put bayleaves in my cooking too and I haven't died.

Yew, though is a complete no no.

Have used this lot a couple of times. Worked out cheapest for what I've needed. No problem with delivery and the plants of all sizes have all been healthy.
