Our new Tivo box seems to work fairly well, albeit with a three second delay to every button pressed.

However, the annoying thing is the favourites list seems to revert back to 'all channels' after an hour or so.

I've googled it, and loads of old posts on the web about it, but Virgin seem to think they have solved it. No, they haven't, unless I missed something.

It is not the end of the world, but it is annoying to have to click four times every time I want to pull up the guide with our channels, and I don't need to see hundreds of greyed out unavailable channels.

Or is it some sort of built in advertising to drive people to upgrade to all channels?

Can't help with the Favourites issue, but mine had a funny turn a few months ago when it started randomly recording stuff. I'd stop it recording the programme, but thirty minutes later it would start recording another programme from a different channel. It seems an update at that time had decided to set the TiVo box to start recording programmes it thought I would like, based purely on god knows what. Had to Google the solution which was to disable some setting, but I wasn't happy with the fact it had activated this function without my asking to.

That's the whole idea behind 'Tivo' it records programmes based on you viewing habits and what you record etc. I'm never interested in anything it records for me!

Yes, I was somewhat irritated that ours continually recorded random programs, but a google informed me that 'suggested programs' are actually recorded, by default.

Of course, they have no interest in asking you this option when you first get the box. So they are not suggestion, but 'we have decided you want to record these' programs.

A bit like Facebook makes decisions on what your 'top stories' are......

And you can actually tell it not to record suggestion. Somewhere in settings.

Initially I thought the thumbs up was to populate your favourites list........ it only took he an hour to undo them all....

I assumed TiVo was a Virgin invention, but obviously not...

It is definitely clumsy, illogical and slow, but seems to serve its basic purpose. The three second delay after, pressing any button is annoying, along with the issues mentioned earlier.

Tivo more or less invented the 'PVR'. Been around for years in the US.
