Just seen a press release to say that Edd is on to pastures new and Ant Anstead will be replacing him. Can't help but think the Ant and Edd would have been a better show though. But i'm interested to see what Edd gets upto and how WD pans out.

I guess that's WD finished for me then. It was already diverting too far from its original brief to keep my interest, and this is the nail in the coffin.

Just saw this as well.

I can totally understand Edd's choice, it will be a loss of him from the show.

Ant Anstead is a worthy replacement though, having seen him on "For the Love of Cars" he has the knowledge and skill necessary to do the cars, and the right personality for the show.

Maybe Edd is setting up with Aaron from Gas Monkey? wink

Bit of a shame because I liked 'for the love of cars' too.
Not complaining though - Ant will be great.

What a shame, great guy.

Ant is a top guy too though so should be a good combo.

I expect Ant is looking forward to working with Mike, anything's better than Phil 'I don't actually know fk all about cars, but I'll do that one voice I'm good at' Glenister winkhehe

Sad to hear, but he never seemed completely on-board with the way the show went, as big and flashy as it is now, it's not the same programme really.

I suspect the next series will be the last. Edd IS wheeler dealers, I'm yet to meet anyone who ever enjoyed the Brewer bits, it's a massive surprise that he out-lasted Edd.

Didn't Edd China have a producer, or assistant producer credit on the show? Does that mean he put up money to make it? Or made money out of it on top of his fees? I don't fully understand how the technical and production aspects of making telly programs works, I just watch them sometimes...

...I mean, surely if he was a producer, then he would have had some control over the direction the show took?

The partnership worked well. Wideboy Brewer and practical Edd. Yin and yang. Can't see the new fella having the same sort of chemistry. Suspect the new show may fizzle out in a few years.

Has Edd said why he quit? Perhaps he made his money and is now a bit too old to be a spanner monkey (assuming he did it for real in the show).

I'm not surprised he left. Given Brewers calculations on how much money he made on each car he did up and moved on, Ed's labour rate was precisely fk all.

Ed's better of getting a gig at Kwik-Fit. Good luck to him.

The whole point of the show is that you are presumed to do all of the work Ed does in your spare time to gain the returns they did. Thats why Ed's time was never factored in.

But Ed WAS wheeler dealers. Who would watch it with only Brewer and a new guy? No chance.

This is a bit OT but I've been reading a book about Chinooks so I took a look on YouTube for some footage of them in action, I never knew Brewer went in for this sort of thing, I suspect after this he may have knocked it on the head and decided selling cars was a bit less dangerous...

Going even more off topic - I just found out today that Aaron has left Richard Rawlins in Fast and Loud.

Shame Edd has left.

Can we look forward to a show with just an hour of Edd spannering, like a high-production version of "A car is Born"; rather than the current 10 minutes and 30 mins of recaps & Brewer? It would actually work much better as a web show on Motor Trend of similar, like Hot Rod Garage. There probably isn't much money in it though.
