The bit of last night's that will stay in my memory is the measuring of the intestine.
Not very scientific, but i think they needed 150cm and he counted off 250cm so i guess there was a fair margin of error.Having had a similar operation but keyhole i was shocked how thin the tissue was, i thought it would be thicker, like a bike inner tube.
I don't miss the constant dry mouth and thirst, how quickly you forget these things.

The second foot looked particularly horrible.
Nearly put me off my giant dark chocolate hazelnut bar.I gamely carried in though as I'm a hero
I too cannot see what they are doing most of the time, just looks like a bad day at the butchers.
Amazing people, the orthopedic guy just loved his job
Not our own secret surgeon perchance?
Last weeks episode, with the scoliosis, was amazing. I couldn't make anything out yet he was placing screws into bones that to me just weren't there.
What is also great is I'm having a disc removed next month - only a small keyhole op. I've got the same surgeon, John Crawford. If he can do what he did on TV then my op is in very safe hands

The scoliosis spine straightening procedure makes we wince thinking about it even now. On people getting satisfaction from their jobs, I'll always remember the fella putting the woman's foot back into place a few weeks ago. He loved it. That must give you a lot of reassurance, knowing that someone of that quality is going to be operating on youWhat is also great is I'm having a disc removed next month - only a small keyhole op. 100% but it also has the effect of making me feel like I'm wasting his time with such a small procedure compared to what he can do. I know that's a daft thing to say but it's still a thought that pops up
Whether you are just having the spark plugs changed and the shims checked or a whole engine rebuild, I'd still want the best guy for the job Good luck with the op fella.
