Agreed that even by Derek’s standards he was very grumpy/rude! I wonder if something had happened or perhaps he was just grumpy after being stuck in traffic which he mentioned earlier.
Tbh he comes across as being very arrogant and self centred. A thoroughly unpleasant individual.

I’ve met him quite a few times (live locally) and he’s always been very pleasant, happy to pass the time of day and talk cars. His lads are nice guys too.

If the person who was going to auction my car turned up and was as dismissive and rude as Derek was I would have told him he had wasted his time coming.
I'm guessing we don't know the whole story, it was very out of character perhaps something happened off camera.
The chap selling the SM was a dealer, so Derek was talking "trader to trader".
Maybe I'm wrong, but I got the impression that Derek knew the SM seller ?

I thought I heard Derek say 'good to see you again' or something along those lines.

Was surprised the guy collecting the Thunderbird thought he was going to get it into his van the way he did. At least he was seeing the funny side of it I suppose.

And the Beemer was an object lesson in not getting carried away by nostalgia.

Just watched that episode again and I'm sure the Citroen expert said the SM was a UK spec car but it was a LHD. Did they only come in LHD or was he wrong?

Yes, all cars left the factory in LHD.

Thanks for clearing that up. I believe that Mike Brewer has a Citroen SM in his collection.

I wondered why he didn't put it sideways on the lift, with the bike on the lift and the sidecar hanging over the side, though I'm not sure it would have been much better. Apart from anything else, he'd have to drag it sideways into the van, if it was still on the lift by then.

I wonder how he got it off at the other end ?

Maybe there's a loading bay at the other end.

He appeared to be running a bus or truck business so who knows. Seemed all the stranger he should turn up at Mathewsons so unprepared.

Only just caught up.

The Citroen expert was the answer to the question “ What does Dave Hill from Slade look like before he’s stage ready?”

I too thought that Derek was unnecessarily rude about the SM.

The fella who bought the SM had some very odd reasons for doing so. “Can’t buy shares, can’t buy gold, so cars it is.” “Might only need a respray” seemed somewhat optimistic too!

The E9 CSi - I was amazed how much it went for given how rough it looked. Seems it was a great deal worse than even that, but I’m glad the fella seemed to be restoring it thoroughly.

Given the Scottish fella jokingly tried to nick the ramps, I’m not sure he had a solid plan to remove the bike from the lorry at the other end!

Sorry about that, Bubbles was one of the ‘volunteers’ who washed and polished the cars. Haven’t seen him this series, any know why?
Ah, yes, I know of Bubbles. I was confused because you said you'd seen him. Anyway, perhaps he's finally retired from his voluntary job? hehe
That was yer man Bubbles talking tractors just now, wasn't it?

Derek is losing it. That 250 SWB copy was gopping. I saw one at a local show last year with chromed Borrani-style wheels and replica Ferrari ventilated seats. Properly done, even if I could see from a mile away it wasn't "proper" but lots of people took photos.

The Mathewsons car has Z3 wheels and seats. Nice dashboard though.

I'd prefer it if it wasn't red and had a Z3M engine, but otherwise I quite like it.
