Llandow Laps 4. Mercedes AMG SL63 vs Porsche Boxster Spyder RS.

I'm never going to afford either, but I don't want either of them. The Merc is too much tech and I'd rather have a Boxster with a proper roof than the Spyder's temporary tent thing, or I'd have a Cayman hehe .
It's a real shame that all of these seem to have been filmed at the same time in the cold and wet. It's basically just rewarding anything 4wd. I know its free and I don't like criticising YouTube content to much but it does seem to be limiting the whole thing a bit. Like I would Love to see what that Mini racer could do in the dry.

Do we reckon it all got filmed in one day or something? As CH has discussed on podcasts before that renting tracks to make CH on cars didn't make money without the financial input of Youtube. So would make sense to bang through it in a couple of days but get lots of videos to spread the cost out and release over a period of time.
Only my opinion but I'm finding all these videos quite dull. I think you're right in that they seem to have been filmed at the same time.
You can see lots of the cars in the background I think, from the couple I watched. Agree they are quite dull. On a par with Car Wow drag races for me.
Carwow drag races are nowhere near comparable in time, effort, creativity and the amount of useful information delivered. It's the first iteration of a concept so of course it's not going to be perfect at the first attempt. I find the BTS content really insightful as well. Hopefully they get luckier with the weather for future rounds
I don't disagree they with you that they are objectively better.

I personally just don't find them very interesting. Nowhere near on a par with most Chris Harris YouTube content over the years. Perhaps its the cars? Perhaps I'm bored of track comparisons? Just doesn't grab me.
I can see your point, Chris seems quite stressed/highly strung (understandable given his current situation) and that comes across in the videos like the passion and enthusiasm isn't there. They had a couple of young racing drivers as part of their crew, so I'm surprised they haven't featured them as a way to inject more life into the series

He's the custard test OG is he not?
If you're referring to Plato then yes, the whole thing came about for Plato to prove who he was to the forum. No idea what this Neil has to do with it.
Neil Clifford is the originator of the PH Custard Test, not Plato.

Edit - it's referenced further up the thread.
That's not quite right; I introduced 'Custard Proof' to Pistonheads back in 2007, it made its debut here - as bristolbaron mentions - in the 'Stolen recovered Lambo' thread: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

However as I mention in that post, the idea was not mine, it was barryboys.co.uk site admin by the name of 'famine' who came up with it.

I find myself loving Neil more, the more we see of him. He just seems like a genuinely likeable, interesting chap and I think it's telling that he seems to have a very large and diverse group of friends.

And I really want that Bentley too.

Completely agree.

It’s also nice to see that someone who has been that successful still be that humble and have their feet on the ground.

The collective Collecting Addicts should do more of this sort of thing. Ideas...

Senna: The Directors Commentary
Sort of lost since the days of buying physical media as opposed to streaming but a Collecting Addicts commentary on the Senna movie would be a good listen-listeners could press play at the right time and the Addicts out talk in one earphone while we listened with the other ear and watched along.

Auction Watch Live
The Collecting Addicts watch and discuss a number of auctions that are scheduled to finish at the same time one night. First 30 mins discuss the cars and then watch the count down, once the hammer falls takes about the results etc.

Made me laugh as well - it's amusing to think that a post I made here 17 years ago resulted in a tin of Birds' best being chauffeured around London by Chris Harris last week. rofl Well played chaps!
