I've listened to a few of these, and enjoyed the episodes featuring Tiff and Richard Porter.

Can seem very elitist at times, like I'm listening in to a conversation between people of a totally different social and financial class.

There was an episode where they were discussing Dickie Meaden's 964 RS and saying "Of course, these used to be cheap - you could pick them up for like thirty grand. There'd be people going to the Nurburgring and treating them as disposable track cars" which felt a bit out of touch with reality. Maybe the comment was tongue in cheek, but at that point I realised that Chris and Ed are not your average men on the street!

I guess the clue is in the podcast title - most serious car "collectors" are very wealthy individuals.
I don’t think it’s elitist. They are obviously successful chaps but are quite candid about it. And £30k for a 964RS? That is insanely cheap though!

Just listened to the Tiff and Harry podcasts, a really enjoyable and insightful listen.

Anyone got experience of the Collecting Cars Auction site that is plugged every now and then? (either selling or buying a car on there)

Only just stumbled across this. Really enjoy the depth of knowledge and enthusiasm Harris brings.

Great to have a podcast where he can get properly geeky rather than Top Gear where it has to be a bit more mainstream.

Fair enough. Forum creators aren’t usually anyone I would know about to be honest.

Surely you're joking?

20k + posts and you username is the same as the site he created?

I'd have a look in the classic threads section if you genuinely aren't taking the piss!

I'm sure he'd be delighted with that last comment and how far the site's come since he sold it.

No, wait......

Enjoyed that. Not sure why there was 33 minutes of silence tacked on at the end?

I was wondering the same.

It was a great podcast though and I loved listening to the old PistonHeads stories.

It's been nearly a decade since I logged into my Pistonheads profile. Listening to the Collecting Cars podcast with Petrol Ted today reminded me how revolutionary this forum was for enthusiasts. Decided to resurrect a very old email account in order to log on for nostalgias sake.

Long live PH.

Enjoyed that. Who doesn't like listening to CH blathering about car stuff...

Got me thinking, has there ever been a "Best of PH threads, thread"?

I really enjoyed the PetrolTed podcast, brought back many memories, think these Collecting Cars podcasts have been superb, thought they would have more hits though.

It can depend on the player you use, I use Acast and it just finishes at the end of their chat, no silence at the end. But I've had other podcasts where there's a big chunk of nothing at the end.

I did laugh at the mention of the American fella on the Lotus section famous for having no sense of humour whatsoever. It wasn't just PH where that was the case.
