Simon Barlow got a 6 month ban for leaving the scene of an accident. No other car or tp involved so just street furniture damaged, and he went back the next day. Judge mentions potential drink driving but "maybe" drink driving isn't an offence. There's no way he gets banned for that. Utter nonsense. I doubt he'd even be charged.

And Lauren's murder enquiry is headed up by DS Swain. DS's legally can head up a murder enquiry, but never would.
It's all complete and utter nonsense now ... they clearly do no research whatsoever.

The constant police presence on the street shows up the ongoing poor storylines. There's a murder/arson/stabbing threat etc etc weekly, leading to the same female detective and/or PC open gob being required virtually 24/7.
Simon wouldn't have been prosecuted, the crash was a farcial end to a farcial "drink problem " that's now happily cured within the normal time scale of corrie problems.

The only good recent storyline is when the writers stick to the old corrie ethos of a good scandal with some wisecracks as with Steve/Tracey and Tommy O

DS Swain seems to have overlooked one minor thing. Lauren has links to..... actual terrorists. Bethany was worried about stirring them up if she wrote her story, but Swain obviously feels that Lauren's disappearance is unlikely to involve the terrorists she was actually involved with, not when there's a 70 y/o cafe owner with no previous record to go for.

Maybe it would be too difficult for Swain to hunt down her terrorist dad and question him. I mean where is he? Oh yeah, he's in jail, in Manchester!

This is exactly why a DS doesn't get to run a murder enquiry.

Roy: When I'm eventually ruled out.....
Carla to Deedee: Is he deluding himself?
Deedee: I've seen people go down for less.

No she hasn't. No one ever went down with less evidence than they have against Roy, which is basically no evidence. They've got nothing. They don't even know Lauren is dead. The CPS would never give the go ahead for a prosecution on this nonsense. In fact, the police wouldn't even ask.

Utter cobblers.

I think Swain killed Lauren. I mean look at the evidence. All she's talked about for days is Lauren. The woman is clearly obsessed by her. Must've been a lesbian hook up after following her on Ovidz, that went wrong. People have gone down for less. rolleyes

Plenty of innocent people have been sent down. The Birmingham Six were only guilty of being Irish - which seemed enough for some.

They have, but with more evidence than this. There were other factors in the Birmingham 6 conviction rather than just being Irish, although of course the conviction was wrong. For example, in the case of the Birmingham 6, they actually knew for certain murder had been committed. In Lauren's case, they don't even know that.

Aha, so Swain wants to know more about the 2 men who threatened Roy. Maybe the penny might drop that if someone goes missing, and they have known links to terrorists, maybe the first line of enquiry might just be the terrorists. Rather than the owner of the cafe where she used to work.

Maybe it's just me, but who is more likely to violently attack someone in their flat and murder them. Terrorists with whom the deceased had links to but had fallen out with, or a cafe owner whose in his 60s without any criminal record at all?

To be fair, I think if the girl that Jefferies was wrongly in the frame for killing had had links to terrorists who she had fallen out with, I think the Bristol police might just have followed that up.

Tommy Orpington is a little bit too friendly with Amy for my liking. If he has a thing for teenage girls, and Lauren has gone missing, and he's going off to Spain......well, banged to rights I'd say. You heard it here first hehe
