Binged the first 4 Slow Horses, excellent so far. I have no knowledge of the book(s) so it's all new to me. The casting seems fine, River must be going for the award for most useless agent. GO is brilliant as always.
This needs its own thread. I binged series 3 in one sitting yesterday and it's still very watchable.Oldman is a hoot.

Finestkind. Really not sure how to describe it but compelling viewing. Jeez though, Tommy Lee Jones is looking old
We watched this last night , TLJ once again steals the show as he always does. Was a little slow getting going but the last half an hour or sot was good
My only beef with it was seeing Jenny Ortega being the sexy drug knowing siren, as good looking as she is she till looks like a child to me .
Oh & it's on Paramount sir.
Thanks for the recco

Slow Horses is just so very clever. Up to Ep4 and cant wait to finish it.
My favourite line from Oldman this time. “You called Sly, whats that short for - Slime?”
It, unfortunately reminds us that MI5 is not full of James Bond, or even Spooks types, but poorly paid Civil Servants working their 9-5, probably from home, these days.
But then you get a Diana, hopefully waiting to shaft Ingrid, well and truly.

Genuinely burst out laughing at that one.

Lasso hit a low on the first three/our episodes of S3; then they go to Amsterdam and it rapidly improves. Persevere (not a woman, here).
Finished it off last night and this is right - glad I “pushed on”, once that ridiculous storyline with “Jack” was put to bed it got a lot better Will watch the last FAM tonight - there’s a lot of loose ends to tie up, let’s see how it goes. I think S4 is right up there with S2 and they’ve pulled back from S3’s missteps.
I’ve watched the first two episodes of Criminal Mind - it has promise and Capaldi is excellent. Will be interesting to see how it pans out…
So what with that, Slow Horses and Masters of the Air due soon there’s enough to keep my subscription running for a little while longer.

Criminal Record.
Really enjoying this.
Hot on the heels of Slow Horses I thought I'd had enough of seeing 'yet more London', however this really is brilliantly and originally shot and edited; to the point where you almost spend more time looking at it than you do following the story.
Cush Jumbo is a fantastic, powerful lead and Peter Capaldi is masterfully understated with just enough Tucker energy lurking underneath.
Sadly they'll be the usual bks reactionary accusations of woke as it's a black female lead, in a diverse cast pitted against white institutional and casual racism along with specifically referenced white and male privilege. However these power dynamics, be they institutional, personal or sexual are central to the themes and plot of the story as opposed to being bolted on. They're also nuanced (the lead being mixed race with a white partner for example). I've no doubt that the directness of some of the messaging will also be played with as the plot progresses to mess with the audience's expectations.
Really really impressed with the first two eps.

Watched the first episode of criminal Record which started well but then morphs back into a standard bbc drama. I am the exception however as could never get on with slow horses despite the great feedback. The Curse with Emma Stone I think is on Apple, is certainly the weirdest show I’ve seen for a while, the last episode must’ve been written while high on something. Just bizarre.
