Apple TV's Ted Lasso

So from what I’ve read they had ten Episodes all written and ready to go but Apple said they wanted twelve episodes this season so the Christmas ep and Coach Beard got added. I didn’t mind the coach beard one at all. fk off Thierry Henry!
That’s interesting. I was beginning to feel the writers were getting bored with the show. Usually that’s when they start writing ‘special’ episodes. Just churning out filler to keep it going. Helps to know they had an excuse.
On balance I still enjoy watching it. I actually though the funeral episode had a few good laughs. But not sure I will bother if it returns for a 3rd series.

They’ve ruined this by forgetting it’s about football, with Scrubs we had the relationship stuff but always with a medical core. He’s lost his touch.
I don’t think it’s ever really been about football. I’d go so far as to say it’s not even a sports comedy, the football is almost an after thought.Disappointed.
I watch it but don't really know why, maybe hoping it will get better. It goes from adult 'comedy' to schmaltzy cringeworthy stuff like it doesn't know what it's trying to be.

It could be that you are talking about bottle episodes in other series.SpudLink said:

Already confirmed for a third and likely final series.I was beginning to feel the writers were getting bored with the show. Usually that’s when they start writing ‘special’ episodes. Just churning out filler to keep it going. Helps to know they had an excuse.

I’m not really a fan of the way American TV is made to fit set ‘formula’ for the networks. Streaming services have broken away from that to an extent, but of course much of what is streamed here was made for broadcast in the home market.
Finished S2 now and have to wonder what some of you were on about. It was a superb series! They got the arcs, development and pathos spot on.
The Xmas episode and the Beard episode were probably my two favourite ones. And if you didn’t like the funeral episode then you haven’t understood the show at all in either S1 or S2.

For some reason YouTube thought I’d be interested in this video of Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca) singing 'At Last'.

Disagree on all points. S2 has been seen by many as disappointing (except by super-fans) and marked a big departure from the feel-good S1. In some ways that isn't surprising as creative people want to try different things to let the characters and series grow, but their direction in S2 resulted in many unfunny, non-engaging plot lines that made it into a melodrama or soap opera. The Beard episode was a big misstep that had nothing to do with the rest of the series. I know it was a take on Scorsese's "After Hours", but why? The Xmas episode was simply an outlier fantasy that wasn't unpleasant to watch but had nothing to do with the ongoing plot lines and felt very out of place. But many of the other S2 episodes were a mess also. When S3 eventually appears I will give it a few episodes before deciding whether the series is trying to redeem itself or descending further into the soap bubbles. The Xmas episode and the Beard episode were probably my two favourite ones. I agree and I wish the actors would slow down their lines, some of them speak so fast I have to use subtitlesI thought it was a great programme. S1 was better than S2 which was still good. Some bits in S2 were questionable like the long quiet breakfast / eggs scene which was meant to be some form of respect to some film I read some where.
Looking forward to S3. Any idea when that will be ?
