I really like the EV9. It's got an honesty to it and seems like it's been properly thought out from a practicality point of view.

Another EV review plus it is ugly as sin, no thanks.
Weighs over 2,600 Kg. Obscene in every possible way.
To be fair, it weighs the same a 2006 Land Discovery 3, despite being bigger and having a large battery...

Yes but Disco 3 was developed 20+ years ago and is body on frame - And has a honking great engine and gearbox.... You can bet everything in it, seat frames, nuts and bolts, all the stuff you don't think about, can be made lighter and just as strong these days...

2.6t seems like an unnecessary amount of weight...

The battery alone weighs over half a ton.

Ok, but a Disco 5 is 2400kg, so not a massive difference once you account for a tank of fuel.

Actually, are there any new 7-seater (still with a useable boot) cars that are less than 2000kg? I'm genuinely intrigued now laugh

Yes I know - I mentioned it in a previous post... Disco 3 TDV6 engine and gearbox dry weight is circa 450kgs so comparable... The overall car still manages to be 200kgs lighter though in spite of it being 20 year old techology!

I can’t bring myself to watch it, but there’s seriously people who think the EV9 looks good?! It’s new BMW levels of fugly.

I think it looks great. I love boxy cars.

Indeed, we use a Kia Soul as a daily.

Although we then have to ask the followup question - what current SUV is actually good looking?

Range Rover is fairly inoffensive, the Defender looks good in certain colours, G-wagen or Ineos get the nod if you want 'retro' style.

The Jeep Wagoneer looks nice, but not available here (as far as I know).

Depends on what you define as good looking - For me an SUV should be as boxy and truck like as possible.

I think the LR line up is about the nicest at the mo. I'm quite interested in the new Land Cruiser, I like the look of the Fisker Ocean (dubious choice though - I wouldn't want one based on reviews I've seen!)

Volvo XC60/XC90 not bad but don't have that boxy truck image...

The current Ford Ranger Widtrak/Raptor is a good looking truck as well (although obviously not an SUV)

I find Jonny's review style very interesting. This one more than any felt like he dumbed it down for a mass audience. Felt like a 5th gear review for the masses.

He's also getting a lot of flack for washing it with a concrete / brick attachment on the pressure washer in the comments hehe

Agreed - you could take a lot of dogs to the restaurant in one of these.

Got bored after about 8 minutes... My impressions, nice design but 30% too expensive and 30% too heavy....

Battery weight @ circa 500kgs was mentioned, it got me thinking - Where does the other 2.1 tonnes come from? I must be missing something but there can't have been much thought gone into weight saving surely?
What 7 seater SUV is sub 1900kg? Why does it need to be 30% lighter given the weight of some of the ICE variants. Plus 50k seems cheap for a 7 seater SUV.
