Mark & Lard, 'hello Mrs X, is your y coming out to play?
Discussion
Ooooh baby ! Shoving the organ up her back passage was some going for 2:30 in the afternoon ! Let’s not forget Frogging with Scoff Cruddle & the Cumbrian Deep Throat Singers, Skell Nonch & Erk Dray. I never really gelled with their early morning foray but absolutely did once they moved to the afternoon slot. I used to like that when they played some ste pop song it was due to “contractual obligations”. Skived work to listen to their last broadcast & was genuinely sad to see them go.

Bigady bigady bong !
Their afternoon show was terminated against their will by the bosses.
At the end of their final afternoon show, they managed to sabotage and completely screw up Radio 1's broadcast so that it was silenced for about 2 minutes until the technicians could un-f**k what Mark and Lard had done to the transmission
Brilliant.

I loved the record collection bits they did, where the needle would skip with amusing consequences...
How they got away with some of the stuff they did I'll never know
I used to skip off work early so I could listen on my way home.

I found a few of their shows with the music removed on SoundCloud a few years ago, I'll see if I can find them again later.

We closed the workshop doors for a couple of hours and listened to the last show. Dave. said:

They were great in their prime radio 1 days.
And then the other day I heard a trailer on radio 2 for ‘The Folk Show’ with mark radcliffe. How times change.
He plays or at least played in a folk band (The Family Mahone). He lived near to us in Cheshire and when Christopher Neil opened their new TVR/Lotus showroom in Northwich the band played at the opening. This was in their Radio 1 heyday too. We went down to watch and Peter Wheeler was there too. And then the other day I heard a trailer on radio 2 for ‘The Folk Show’ with mark radcliffe. How times change.
