snip. I was interested in his new house but I don't think he did many follow ups on that.
I think he abandoned that because people worked out where he lived and started showing up.ro250 said:

Kudos to the guy thats re doing the whole wiring loom on the Tavarish P1 that's a monumentally big job!
I know they are friends but it's like role reversal on the views, I remember the first videos on this car when he would pull 1m in 12 hours, now Mat is doing that and it seems to be much slower up take on his channel, maybe the build has just gone on too long. Ikemi said:

James spotted out in the wild!
It baffles me when people don't upload in 4K to Youtube - the bitrate at "1080p" is woeful, and any camera nowadays can record in 4k.Sure Youtube 4k isn't actually 4k, but you get a MUCH better bitrate and it doesn't look like you're watching through soap.
I won't link my channel here, but I've created around 300 long form videos. If they were in 4K, each episode would be around 100-150GB in storage. My completed Japan episode (25 mins in length) was around 60GB (excluding raw files). On my Internet connection (38 Mbps down/8 Mbps up), it took around 17 hours to upload. I release a video every week; this would be a nightmare!
Most of the time 1080P is fine. My content doesn't suffer from not being in 4K, especially as the majority of my audience is watching on mobiles. I don't think my HD footage is that bad either, but that might just be due to lighting etc. It looks as though the linked channel is new, so with only 7 videos behind them, they'll still be learning a lot, as James says ...
I do plan to upgrade my two 8TB drives to something more substantial, and I'll more than likely upgrade to Swish fibre that allows 400Mbps (or 900Mbps!) up/down. However, it's all an expense ... and when it's not currently a full time job, it's worth keeping overheads to a minimum

It'll be interesting to see what sort of revenue numbers he's pulling with his car auction site because the car market everywhere is in a death spiral, and we're not seeing the high value transactions we saw during COVID times.
Do you have any us-centric data to back that up?Rusty Old-Banger said:
Are you automotive? Japan...? Tell us more - or at least give us clues
Nothing exciting, sadly ... Mainly traditional Italian and Italian American recipes. However, we've done a few taste tests, food travel vlogs (Japan being one) and other non-recipe videos to add some personality to the content and connect more with our audience. Reading and reacting to negative comments from Reddit, FB and YouTube was a fun one to do! But yeah, pushing for the channel to become a full time thing! Ikemi said:

Yes I think Matt has more of a handle on creating an engaging video and stringing the episodes together and weaving the story. I don't think there's anyone in this genre that does that bit better to be fair. The latest P 1 video was twice as long as it needed to be. There are some interesting bits like the loom and how they are chopping the body panels but the videos are a bit too long really. It's still an interesting project but an hour long video where you can fast forward through a lot of it isn't good. It's something I rarely do but I did with that one.

For those who said Becky Evans knows nothing about cars and hired just because she's a woman:
Interesting "uncanny valley" oversized head thumbnail! Whever she is...

She does seem to be doing less YouTube and more corporate/legacy media stuff these days

I didn't want to say anything in case there's something wrong with her.
It's a clever tactic to stop you scrolling! I've seen a few others do the same; might be worth trying sometime! Here's another recent thumbnail from Becky's channel that employs the same technique ...ThomW said:
I'm no huge fan of his content, very rarely watch it. But I was having a look at his SLS Black Series at the Scramble and commented on how good the paint was to my pal and Shmee said "thanks!" next to me. Didn't know he was there and he just started chatting about it.
Incidentally, the paint on that SLS BS is possibly the best I've ever seen on a car, from Rolls Royces to full custom show cars. Oustanding and very beautiful to behold.
Thom, are you in the video?Incidentally, the paint on that SLS BS is possibly the best I've ever seen on a car, from Rolls Royces to full custom show cars. Oustanding and very beautiful to behold.

I've Googled her and she's either 'a presenter' or she's a Georgia State Representative.

Anyone hear the AA story when Taylor bought a Range for £850 ?
Something didn’t seem right there to me.
If someone paid £8500 for a car 6 months previous with no problems and then had it up for sale for £1k. You knew it was worth £10k maybe but offered £850. Doesn’t sit right with me.
I'm not sure why you expect youtube folk to be truthful about costs etc. They exist to tell stories, so I wouldn't get too hung up on the detail.Something didn’t seem right there to me.
