Only downside was forgetting how many episodes I'd watched, and having only 1 to end with when I was looking forward to 2.
Maybe it wasn't your memory as oddly it was only 5 episodes, when normally these types of drama are 6 episodes.

How do you rate Freeman's accent in the show?

It actually sounded quite authentic, his wife's not so much, mind you, she is Swedish.

I did wonder about that, but put it down to getting confused at my age biggrin

Finished this last night and not entirely sure why but I didn't really enjoy it.

Freeman was good, but the whole storyline & telling of it just didn't grab me.

Also not sure it was particularly positive... admitted to being corrupt - but that was OK, he was doing it to take care of his mum who wouldn't die.

The poor copper who was convinced he was bent ended up drunk and alone in a hotel room.

I suspect their may be a prequel in the pipeline that will show his fall from grace.

I don't think i'll watch it though.

Agreed. I was really looking forward to this, particularly as it was written by an ex-cop, but the overall story just seemed a bit muddled.

Had a few laugh out loud moments (although I'm struggling to recall them) and Freeman was good but that's about it.

When the young girl was ranting at the old tramp about how she'd even let Marco use her bathroom and said "and then do you know how he rewarded me?"

Tramp - "Didn't flush?"

Why would Bilbo Baggins giving the doctor a 'taken as police evidence' form get her brother off the hook for the missing coke? I didn't get that bit, I wasn't really paying much attention, but my missus didn't understand either.

Surely whoever was invested in the drugs would still be looking for a payout, I doubt the "police seized it sorry la" excuse would hold much weight amongst criminal gangs?

Oh and how come the female police officer couldn't escape from a flimsy cupboard with a coat hanger as a lock?!

I am conflicted - I enjoyed the series as a whole, but I thought that the ending was really weak. As noted above, after gangland figures commit much violence and multiple killings it was just "Oh, the police confiscated it" and everything is fine?

I’m a bit baffled as to why the police would give out a receipt for taking kgs of Coke off you…it’s not like you can rock up and claim it back. Also, if they did give you a receipt you can expect to be arrested and ultimately sent to prison no? So when the supplier sees you’ve been handed a receipt but then haven’t been charged let alone jailed…

I think she was just scared of him. Victim mentality probably makes you do things that other people find incomprehensible.

As Freeman said, if the kingpin in the chokey doesn't get his drugs he'll likely get stabbed in the showers - isn't that a good thing for his current predicament? Agreed that a bit of paper isn't going to save the day.

After the final ep last night I guess it was ok but not as big a deal as made out in some newspaper reviews beforehand. I dont thing they even watched more than one ep before writing it up.
The apprentice coppers bizarre domestic life would have prompted outrage or comment for sure.
I expect it to return as it had its moments.

She still phoned her mate to come and get her out of there? So if she wasn't intending on being in the cupboard when her abuser arrived home, she should've just broke out of there anyway?

Watched first ep tonight.

Instantly thought that the role was made for Stephen graham, it’s almost as if Martin freeman has based the acting style on him.

Will keep at it

Yes exactly - and he woudln't have had to spend a year training himself to speak scouse as Freeman has said in all his promotion interviews.
I disagree.

I think Stephen Graham is a great actor, but it seems like anytime there's a Liverpudlian role to play, they just wheel him out of storage... hehe
Same with Ian Hart...

I get bored seeing the same actors in multiple shows.
