Top Gun Maverick review thread with SPOILERS *DANGERZONE*
Discussion
I’m going with
Maverick settled into retirement, teaching people to fly, or maybe being a stunt pilot or something.
The Navy call. There’s a mission, can only be him.
Iceman’s nephew comes in, crack pilot but arrogant and selfish.
Mission occurs, Maverick saves the day but gets shot down and killed.
Memorial at the end. Iceman Jr throws Maverick’s dogtags off a carrier at the end of the film.
Check back in a couple of years’ time!

Surviving the Darkstar breakup seemed ridiculous, but it's loosely based on a real event, the breakup of a SR-71 at Mach 3.2. Worth a read!

Although I am not a physicist nor qualified, I am going to take a punt that the human body would be mush trying to get to mach 10, let along slowing down from that speed back to the ground.http://www.chuckyeager.org/news/sr-71-disintegrate...

Great script! Remember the mission should involve an aircraft carrier being literally a few minutes flight from the target, yet the enemy seem completely unaware of the gigantic 100,000 tonne death machine chilling out just off their coastline... Top Gun : War of Wokes
Maverick finds his true self and starts wearing lipstick and frocks which get entangled in the aeroplane controls and he has to eject, but in doing so he hits his head on the canopy. His wingman Rooster gets upset and is told he's 'got to let him go..'

Enjoyable, but just a few questions
Was Jenifer Lawrence supposed to be playing the older Kelly McGillis, she still had a classic Porsche, but also a very nice yacht. But now owned a bar rather than be a tactical flight instructor?
It was Jennifer Connelly and no, a different character to "Charlie"Was Jenifer Lawrence supposed to be playing the older Kelly McGillis, she still had a classic Porsche, but also a very nice yacht. But now owned a bar rather than be a tactical flight instructor?
Although the character wasn't in the first film, I believe the character was mentioned.

from a blockbuster summer hit its a 10/10 action.
And from a more film critic type view first scene can you beat the opening of the iconic 1986 movie no ok well if you cant beat them join them what start,
Maverick is living his best life every other idiot has got promoted , has a career, a family, house etc he has a hanger which he seems to live in a cool project ww2 plane his old cool bike and is still doing what he loves. He's still living the dream flying by the seat of his pants. The people who know him from the past love and respect him
But all is not as it seems if you look deeper.
He's just holding on as a test pilot on a near end of the line tech (manned mach 10 vs drones) he has no life outside of work , no one outside of his past cares about him , he's been living his current life in the past. Iceman has been protecting him who is now admiral, has a wife kids family but he's dying, his godson rooster hates him and he's the only person apart from Ice that he still loves. Ices comment "its time to let go has two meanings, let go of responsibility for holding back rooster and let go of the past and his desire to go on the mission. He doesnt know how to let go of the mission and learns to let go of Rooster.
"its not what I am its who I am". sums up his entire life of likely many woman in different bars and cities.
He in the end gets to fly one more mission, one last fight just like an aging boxer still has one more fight in him.
And he IS still the bests.
He ends up with Rooster back as his god son and Rooster understands, he gets a girl he might have passed up on before and a daughter that seems to like him. As character development goes its a massive leap for him to finally get what he doesnt know wants.

How the hell does he afford a WW2 fighter on a captains salary?
Survives a plane breaking up at Mach 10, flies a ridiculous mission taking the F18 beyond its design capabilities and takes out two SU57 Felons in an F14 and thats the plot hole that concerns you Scabutz said:

The one that bugs me is the handrail breaking the nose gear off. I've seen an F-14's nose gear, it is stressed for catapult launching the entire aircraft, and Grumman has a reputation for building robust aircraft. No way would that happen. Look at the thing:https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3...

Its been a while since I saw the film. Is it expressly stated that it his or is he just working on it. Also if there are high-net-worth investor(s) who own a P-51, and they allow a US Navy Captain to buy in for a fractional ownership share. The Captain helps with some of the hangar duties, gets to fly it from time to time, and contributes cool stories when visitors come to admire it.

And don’t get me started on his woman. That bar must rake in serious coin for her to afford a vintage Porsche and a whacking great boat! Single mom as well! IRS should be having a look at her books…

Fractional ownership still costs loads and he’s even got the spanner’s out repairing it! If you are a high net-worth individual, are you going to let a a non-qualified mechanic fiddle with your multi-million dollar plane?

Given her father was already an Admiral by the time of the first film, he probably retired with a chunky pension and then sat on the board of a defence contractor or two, raking it in well into his 80s. And don’t get me started on his woman. That bar must rake in serious coin for her to afford a vintage Porsche and a whacking great boat! Single mom as well! IRS should be having a look at her books…
Easy to image he bought her the car new, and then she inherited the bait and enough money to buy the bar.
