I’m the first to admit that I know nothing of MMA and all that, but I’m sure I read that he had actually participated in quite a few (reasonably high level?) events..
I do know Connor mcgregor is pretty well regarded in the sport and that he probably isn’t in the movie for the money, so if it’s good enough for him.

Connor McGregor strikes me as being the sort of person whose ego is bloated beyond belief and who'll do pretty much anything to see his name in lights (so to speak)
