Roadhouse Starring Jake Gyllenhaal

40 odd minutes in and taking a break. Not even got to Connors bits yet but struggling.
Every single supporting actor is virtually unintelligible. Garbled word soup that I can’t make out.
After no viewing of the original did I think, Daltons origin story would make this better.
He was an 80’s version of the western staple, the mysterious stranger.
Also, the weird video game fight camera work makes the scuffles annoying to watch.

I've stuck with it.
And, oh my god. I cannot express how utterly awful this film is.
It is literally, the worst movie I have ever sat through.
And trust me, I have sat through lots of films my wife loves... usually Wes Anderson type dross.
This is absolutely THE worst film I have seen in a long time. Absolute pants.
And I know using the word pants makes my argument irrelevant, but god damn this is bad,

Just watched it, a spectacularly bad movie but almost in the 'so bad it's good category', McGregor is just playing himself coked up to the tits, he has almost zero acting talent however. No Kelly Lynch on show unfortunately but the love interest had really stunning green eyes. I laughed out loud in quite a few places but definitely more at the movie than with it. What Jake Gyllenhal was doing here I have no idea but the dude sure is shredded...a future cult classic!
I have been accused of being devisive before but…..i enjoyed it.
Yes it won’t win an Oscar, who cares.
Conor didn’t really add anything, and a different/unknown actor may have been better in that role.
But as a brains out, pass a few hours film, I enjoyed it.
Better than the Beekeeper, and I love JS films.

It was up and down for me for most of the first half. Like that bit, don't like that bit, thats was good, that bits bad, trying to hard to copy the original by using the same lines etc I enjoyed the bits on the boats. I felt that using the name Dalton seemed out of place. The Road House should have had a proper name but not Double Deuce
Moe one of the biker guys was the funniest thing in the film.

Finished it this morning... Surprisingly it got worse
Given the cast and director I was amazed how awful every facet was.
The script was terrible, the CGI too, but JG's acting was utterly awful. It was so I'll judged. He's supposed to be a tortured fighter, yet some of stupid comedic lines he came with, and their delivery... The one at the end about the piano FFS.
I understand Doug Liman was seriously pissed about the film not getting a theatrical release. He's extremely lucky it didn't... It would have ended his career. It makes Ewe Boll film look coherent and well acted.

I thought it was great, just silly fun for a couple of hours. It must be quite difficult to make a follow-up to a so-bad-it's-good cult classic, knowing that if you make it subtle and credible or even vaguely serious you'lI be missing the entire point.
I think the people slating it for not having good enough acting or effects must have forgotten just how stupid, implausible and clichéd the original was. Contriving accidental charm is basically impossible for obvious reasons, but it gives it a good try, and the whole over-the-top action and silly dialogue works as a package with the stupid "single guy fights off gangs of armed thugs" premise.
My favourite aspect was that pretty much everyone in it looks like they're having a great time chewing up the scenery. If you're prone to over-thinking mindless action films rather than enjoying them I'd probably avoid it, but seriously, what exactly did people expect from a remake of fking Roadhouse?

Utterly awful in every conceivable way. The acting, script, story and fights scenes are some of the worst I've seen in a very long time and it lacks even 1% of the charm of the original.
Avoid like the plague would be my advice.

Have watched the original many times and it always entertains.
I have watched this once and that is once too many. McGregor spends the whole film walking with the worst case of imaginary lat syndrome I have ever seen.
Gyllenhaal is in amazing shape for this film, I will give him that.
