Fair enough, I still think it's one of the weakest viewing wise with the Gladiators so hampered. Perhaps they should just have boxing gloves instead of pads and sticks?

Agreed. The pads have always been useless in Gauntlet but at least in the old ones the Glads seemed to go into it 100% and not just rooted to the back of their zone. There also used to be 5 zones with 3 bars to get past. It's supposed to be a challenge so if 98% are getting through it's too easy.

I don't like the ring either but at least it's got some variety.

I think gauntlet would be improved in one of two ways, giving the gladiators better pads or making the channel narrower…

Or making it a time trial-give then twenty seconds to get through it with descending point scores for how long it took-10 points if you were 1-5 seconds, 5 points if you’re 6-10 seconds and 2 points if you make it through within 11-20 seconds

It was Bionic who monstered the contestant down three zones by the way-that was a belter.

Gauntlet is far too easy. You just run like Linford Christie down the side wall and spin the Gladiator round
