No Sabre tonight? She injured? Drop Viper, complete waste of a Gladiator. Good final though, Glads well on top with low scores for all four contenders but I think the right two won. Shame it’s over now, only seemed five minutes ago we saw the first show.

Sabre did her hamstring on the overhead one the other week. Great final, we had a party for it-feels like we could take two series a year.
Noticed they ditched a couple of the hard contact games to reduce the chance of injury.
Nitro showboating on the wall
Dynamite and Bionic are brutal at dual, so much to enjoy-it’ll be a massive miss for the kids next week. ITV should put up the OG series for download.

Most of it is on YouTube although our young un’s were less than impressed with the picture quality Noticed they ditched a couple of the hard contact games to reduce the chance of injury.

As said earlier in the thread I don’t think the BBC were ready for the success of the relaunch. This could be a pre Christmas show, with the opportunity of relaunching action figures etc. Wish I’d kept mine now! Noticed they ditched a couple of the hard contact games to reduce the chance of injury.

It was a great series and had both my kids practicing push ups ready for their roles as future Gladiators so striking the right cord in promoting healthy lifestyles in kids too - long live the Glads!

To be fair, I thought she was a bit useless on most games at the start of the series, but she seems to have improved a lot over the series.
I saw a Reddit thread yesterday where some guy has done all the stats for the series and Dynamite came out first in terms of success in all the games she participated in, with Viper last!My kids are also really into it and had lots of questions about the series such as:
- Why do you never see the male and female contestants together? (Even with the trophies at the end of the final)
- Why are the presenters always in the same clothes?
- Why did they put two men in the final who hadn't won heats?
- Why didn't the injured Gladiators and contenders recover in time for the next rounds, and why did Sabre get injured and then reappear the following week?
- Why don't they do more Hang Tough?
.... And the answer to pretty much all of those is that the whole series was filmed back-to-back over 11 days last June and then stitched together in the edit. So for (some of) the finalists that meant doing a full day's events and eliminator 4 times in less than 2wks, and there was no time for any recovery from injuries, plus replacements had to be whoever was on standby and hadn't just competed the day before.
Also not all events filmed were shown, as for example the Wall where Comet fell off and broke her ankle was never shown.
What's weird is when the contenders are asked by the presenters in their interviews about "their journey" and whether they're being recognised in the street etc, which is clearly all BS. Not sure why they have to pretend it's "live."
Not sure how they do the stats on that one. Surely games like Powerball, or The Ring make a mess of that. Nobody, for instance, is surely going to argue against Fury being the absolute Boss of her events? Yet that alone wouldn’t work in the stats, as she is sharing the event with 3 other glads. Same will collision, 4 of them and maybe 2 together take a contestant down, does that mean the others don’t get a credit?
Or Giant on Dual. 0 pts against him. Giant in most of his events actually!
In my purely unscientific finger in the wind reckoning, I’ve got Fire down as the least successful Glad.

I really enjoyed the series, nice to see just a bit of lightweight fun with some genuine close moments of competition.
Series two requirements from me would be get rid of Viper - silly character, not a great ‘actor’ and maybe even a bit ‘ist’? Legend shows how to do the baddie character really well.
Get rid of Bradley’s son, he is a mediocre on screen presence and adds nothing to the mix. Although I like Bradley himself as a presenter, I am not convinced he is best placed presenting this either - his usual humour seems a bit lost (could just be because he is trying to bounce off the beige wall of a co-host).
It could do with a bit more variety of games perhaps. Just one or two better challenges.
Nitro, Giant, Fury, Diamond, Legend - great characters.

I listened to a podcast with Nigel Lythgoe who was the “boss” of the original series, in the American series they filmed all the hang toughs together, all the power balls together etc. He wanted to film it in sequence so the audience could really get behind a contender despite the extra money it would take. It was the right call and the uk series was far more popular than the us one.
The new series is the same, some bits and pieces were slightly out of sequence but on the whole the audience were able to follow one particular contender from start to finish.
For season 2 I don’t think they should mess too much with it, I’d like to see the old glads involved some way, maybe hunter or jet as “team leaders” or some presenting roles.
An after show would be good, or maybe an extra 15 mins even so we get more interviews.
If anyone follows hunter on insta he’s still in some shape!

I do like the random locker room afterwards it works well.
I asked above what the time frame was and some answered 11 days whixh is insane no wonder you couldn't recover from an injury.
And yes nitro on the wall I think now will be unbeatable he's getting faster and faster at it.
I wonder how much the gladiators get to practice each event?

This got me wondering, do the contenders get any practice time for any of the events?I asked above what the time frame was and some answered 11 days whixh is insane no wonder you couldn't recover from an injury.
