This got me wondering, do the contenders get any practice time for any of the events?
Again from Reddit, Finlay the winner did an AMA a few weeks ago and said that the contenders had two days of training where they practised the events as a big group, with a couple of hours on each...but without the real gladiators and with the contenders taking turns at being the gladiators.

It's probably the cringiest bit of the new season.

It needs ditching tbh.

Viper is completely rubbish as both a gladiator and a villain. Sack him off, he adds nothing to the show.

Kids absolutely love him though. My 7 year old does. All her class mates do. Hence them putting him on CBeebies this week.

Also his instagram is very witty. They just need to utilise him in a different/better way.

Yesterday on YouTube I saw Giant, Legend and Fury being interviewed on daytime TV. Legend was bloody funny.

He needs to change his name to Grass Snake, he's as scary as one! - harmless with no bite. laugh

Agreed, Viper is a hit with all the youngsters as well as Dynamite who was rubbished on here (even though her Dual stats were pretty impressive!).

They'd probably chuck Alex Scott on. She seems to get a lot of the presenting jobs.

Episode 1 series 1 of the British OG upscaled into HD. Our kids actually enjoyed it!

It feels more like a televised live sporting event than a made for TV "gameshow" although I don't remember if it changed throughout the series. I don't find Brad and his son too off-putting and I hear Brad keeps the crowd going between takes but I do feel they're missing a female presenter-it's mixed events so why not have mixed presenters?

The events do feel a bit short changed in the reboot but after the success it's been I wouldn't bet on them improving that next time around.

It may be that the Sheffield Arena is simply too small though, at least at the NEC they could have two or three "arenas" set up and could move the crowd around but perhaps the budget isn't there for that...yet.

Would quite like some of the "acts" to be dropped. Everything I've seen about Viper outside this is he's great and the volatile, getting penalties persona is a bit rubbish. Jury is out on Sabre too, sometimes she's excellent and others it feels forced.

I might be the only one who likes Brad and Barney although could see them putting in a female presenter.

Keen for more events, and to fix or drop Gauntlet. Atlaspheres and SkyTrak come to mind as more spectacular and I always quite liked Tilt.

I loved Assault on the US Gladiators when I was a kid.

I actually quite like Bradley, he seems to have a good bit of banter with the contestants and Glags alike. Barney does seem out of his depth though unfortunately. Very wooden.

Enjoyed all of it even if the games were a bit watered down compared to the original. My little girl was absolutely hooked.
Legend made the entire series for me though - “There’s no I in team, but there are five in individual brilliance“ biggrin

Yeah legend has been great. I actually used the second part of that sentence last week when someone came out with the rubbish of “there’s no I in team”. I didn’t take the credit for the saying though!

I put my application in yesterday. I don’t expect to get in as I’m very light on anything interesting or special biggrin

Perhaps from your laugh you might already know that they aren't there because of "woke" something or other.

I think she would fit in with the show well. More than two blokes in suits anyway. (Quite like Bradley though.)

Indeed. Some ladies could well be making a decent few quid from the appearance but some twonk, with their own agenda, thought better of it.

Same with the darts. Apparently it was sexist to have two attractive girls walk down the walk-on with the players.......but it's fine to have 4 of them cheerleading up on the stage.
