On the old format did the referee always ask the Gladiators to release constantly? Some of the challenges were almost redundant when the Gladiators weren’t allowed to hold on for more than a couple of seconds

Any self-respecting PHer would have been able to do the Eliminator in half the time, then walk up the travelator in their slip-on driving loafers bespoke, tailored shirt and slacks.

I did point out to the children that the travelator is quite steep.

The game in the circle was kinda pointless, where release actually seemed to mean completely let them go to the centre, rather than them return to the outside to try again.

Also contestants going before the whistle numerous times with no punishment throughout the show.

It was just a rehash of placing the ball in the basket in the centre of the circle.

Yeah I noticed they often went on 1.

Agreed about the game a bit rubbish, If the show lasts they may drop some and bring in new games.

The thing with that game is once the gladiator had let the contestant go, if the contestant got up before the gladiator they had a free run at the centre circle.

It sort of needed an added rule that once you went down you needed to go back out the circle and start again

A rehash but inferior in every way, hopefully they'll adjust things for the next series.

Is the climbing wall likely to feature?

Ah yes it was. I was wondering why it wasn't presented as a "new" game.

The ball version was better as it forced the contender back to the outer ring to collect a ball.

They probably didn't want another 'put a ball in a net' game with them doing the bridge crossing game too.

That's insane!

I did think the 'British Bulldog' game that none of us seem to like was by far the most dangerous in terms of potential for injury in this new series.

It probably didn't but looked like it varied in the mens at least. First chap got up it fine not looking very fast. 2nd guy looked like he was going twice as fast and failed a couple times then finally made it up looking like he was basically walking. cannot confirm if this was due to travelator speed or technique variations.

The bit with Wolf, sorry, Viper leaping down from the rings was clearly 'for the show', and meant the contestant got 30 seconds with a breather and 1 less Gladiator.

Probably looking a bit too deep into a Saturday night family show, though!

Obviously I defer to his insider knowledge but my memory has been that it always slows down to help the second person finish the course, but I dont remember seeing it slowed down for one of the contestants at a close finish.

Climbing wall was a safe enough game as well.

I always like skytrack that was an ace game.
