The over blown verbosity of every sentence does my head in. Particularly of Lady Glass.
Couldn’t agree more. It became tedious.

Good series but the above got to me
Yeah, it's another one of those textbook Guy Ritchie tropes that works reasonably well in a snappy 2hr film, but gets a bit tiresome over 8 episodes. That's my general conclusion having persevered and got through the last few episodes of this...entertaining and laughably absurd in places, but don't think his style particularly works in this format.
This was the weakness of it for me. Enjoyed it and would watch a second series. BUT, if he just toned down the ridiculous written using a thesaurus and book of historical quotes approach, it would have been better. It really didn’t need it and at times it felt overacted and amateurish as a result.

Vinnie jones’ dialogue was simple and in contrast felt like Anthony Hopkins or another superb actor when he appeared.

6-7 out of 10 for me and much better than sexy beast series.

I loved this series but agree with a lot of the above.
This is my favourite genre by far, any British crime based film/show is on my list but so many seem to be written and acted for the US audience.
Having grown up in the 80s in east London it’s just not how these types spoke.
But this isn’t just a Guy Ritchie thing it’s across all the gangster films/shows.

It's a Richie trope, now copied by many. I enjoy his style.

I enjoyed it, haven't seen the Gentlemen film - so nothing to compare it to.

I thought it was supposed to be serious, until I realised it was more comedy than serious.. Then I really enjoyed it.

Kaya Scodelario is nice too. I also didn't watch Skins, so some people have said seeing her in that put them off her.

Can also agree with Theo James as a bond in the future.

Personally i love the guy ritchie style of silliness involved, always have.

I think someone up page nailed it in hindsight - his style works well for a film. It becomes irritating over 6-7 hours.

In other series news - very different but just watched true detective season 1 - now THAT is a good series!

I thought it was brilliant and look forward to a series 2.

Contrary to others, I liked the scripting, the Susie Glass character reminds me of Lilly Allen who tends to use lots of words to make you think she is cleverer than she is.

We both thought that Theo James could be a perfect fit for the next James Bond, but the characters of Jimmy and Freddy made this an ace comedy.

Those were the most lazy characters IMO. Zero depth and totally caricatured.

Is that now what he tried to achieve?

That was probably the point. It was a comedy.

Watched 5 episodes so far.

Looks good. Highly entertaining.

However, they should provide a bingo card of Guy Ritchie cliches.
