Prometheus was brilliant, I honestly love it.
I don't think I watched Prometheus. I watched Covenant, didn't like it. Then decided to watch it again, and really liked it. I think I then watched Prometheus and liked it as well.

I think I might need to watch them both again.

I know it's a trope for characters to do something and get killed off through a film, but the characters in Prometheus/Covenant are really really dumb, made worse because they're supposed to be scientists, geologists, archaeologists, ie. clever people, and they make the stupidest decisions.

I've heard a little more about the story, and what the writer / director is going for.

Not really spoilers as this has been said by the makers in interviews,

The characters are the off-spring of Terraformers, not from the planet from Alien/s but another, apparently Romulus, hints at the brother of another settlement which was LV-426 or something (I don't know my Roman myths that well). It tells the story of these people who grew up on these barren planets with nothing much to look forward to than learning their parent's jobs and taking over from them during this multi-generational terraforming process, but they decide to do something else which leads them to be in space in stasis.

The story will be more Alien, than Aliens, more horror than action, but other than that, they're being very tight lipped other than it's going to be shocking and gory.

Well, I like the sound of that.
