I didn't think it was a look-alike contest.

Brewer is a plank of the highest order.

Ed China is a nice guy and a good mechanic, his repairs are good on Wheeler Dealers, but the programme is spoilt by Brewers'senseless talking and bull sh!tting on the cars he makes peanuts on. Plus the point in the show were the pontential buyer is being sweet talked by Brewer is crtinge worthy.

I find Ed China's work on Wheeler Dealers quite informative, he is the bloke who has also made the road legal four-poster bed (a VW Beetle under the duvet!), 'Brewers droop' just spoils it with his idiotic patronising advise and shite presenting style.

Edd China is a very decent bloke and a bloody good engineer. No show would ever cover him reading up on manuals, since it simply isn't good telly.

His explanations are good and he obviously knows exactly what he's doing.

I've met Mike Brewer and he seemed like a nice chap, but he does spout some crap on Wheeler Dealers, especially when he "selling" the cars to a "punter."

On the wheeler dealers show about a Porsche 928. Mike Brewer straight swaps some "nasty" BBS RS301 split rims for some Teledials that needed a refurb. The cheeky chappy then informed the viewer what a great deal he had done while rubbing his hands and saying geezer a lot. Twat!

The guy he did the swap with looked over the moon, as I would be. Well done Mike you got fleeced out of over a £1000 on national television while professing to be an expert.

Yep, the Teledials that then had a refurb that looked like it'd cost ~ £250 to anyone else...

The cost hiding factors on that show really are quite amusing. If they actually added it all up they'd be out of business within a few days!

Fair enough of course, but they make out sorting cars is really easy and a good way to make some money...

On Fifth Gear they actually did an "honest" version of this with a Ford Puma. It was quite revealing,

* At the auction they pointed out the traders were deliberately forcing up bidding to keep them out.
* After getting the car, they found the work to do on it (clutch) would wipe out their projected profit.
* They tried to sell it at another auction and it went for less than they'd paid.

A show where they got on some optimistic public and told the truth would be quite a laugh. It'd be interesting to see who made it work and who didn't.

I'm sure there was a property one a while back, which typically featured some numpty sitting in the middle of a room with ripped-up floorboards being told they'd just knocked £10k off the value of the property by ripping out the period features...

He's on Dicovery Turbo now with that white Suzuki SJ410 rust trap. He's just been dressed up in wellies by a "producer" and run across a field. So now we know that, in addition to being a plonker, he runs like a girl.

Mind you, I think he was right to put the correct wheels on that 928....

I do like the idea of a programme which shows the possibilities of buying a car and sorting out the wee problems at a bargain price. What I really, really hate is the implied idea that you too can do this.

Well, no you bloody can't. Unless you've got an Ed China mate willing to work for a couple of pints of lager, but, more realistically, INSURANCE. Going to purchase motor traders insurance?? The programme could have been quite good if it hadn't been for the continual "Profit motive" ethos. I must agree also that Brewers a tosser.

No problem with the wheels he put on the car. Just the fact that he got done up the arse whilst doing so!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that finds that annoying.... The way he screeches to a stop, yanks on the handbrake then gets out and slams the door really gets on my tits!!!

Who is the plonker, him - making money from all these programs, or you lot for watching if you don't like him so much. Turn over if you don't like it. I prefer him to several of the other less famous motoring presenters.

I agree he says some silly things some times, but at least he's doing stuff with cars. i don't mind him. I do feel sorry for Ed his mechanic who gets lumbered with loads of work, many hours of labour, then doesn't seem to make anything out of it (or at least get factored into Mike's profits).

BTw, how tall is Ed? looks about 8 feet!

Umm......

I hate to tell you but its a TV programme. Therefore I would think that Edd is probably getting paid by the production company who make the programme.

Or maybe he does it all becuase he loves the viewers and wants to educate them..........

I know that. What I really meant was Eds labour was not taken into account when measuring Mike's tiny profits.

I so much prefer Mark Evans' series of "A ..... is Born". Reasonably honest and no pretence at any financial payoff at the end.

Likewise, i have a couple of his DVDs too but they are not as detailed (obviously) as 8 x 30 min episodes, still good though. A Racing Car is Born is by far the best!
