Traffic Cops BBC1

In the case of the lad maybe.
In the case of the other chap then no, the right outcome was definitely not achieved. Rather than being all pally they could have pored over his car for potential 'issues', bald tyres and such, they could have generally made life a bit more difficult, but no it's all "what a lovely chap, I'd like to have given him a lift home", whilst he sniggers behind their back. No lessons learnt there I fear.

Are you just being purposely obtuse?
The lessons should be learnt be those who find their collar being felt, not the Police.
In the case of the lad, I think we both agree he learnt a lesson that night. In the case of the guy with fraudulent insurance docs he simply got away with taking the piss out of the system and seems to have had what he considers to be a nice day out with the good ol' boy in blue.
Their response: "interesting fella that, would like to have given a lift home blah blah blah" if you can't see the idiocy in that... well...

The phone thing was a bit odd. It would have been better if the lad had asked if he could call home, or would the police call home. After all he'd left his car outside the house, so one glance out of the window by his parents and they'd have been ringing the police themselves. Compare that policeman's reaction to the one in Wetherby where that huge chap had slept in his car, blown twice the legal limit, and had drugs in his car. His phone rang and the police asked him if he wanted to take the call!
Wrong thread but...
I mentioned to the gf while watching it was likely this was to be discussed on PH.
I agree. Looked like a short slip road and it would have been rather risky for the BMW to try and nip up on the inside. Seemed that the Volvo had already started indicating and moving over to lane 2 with a view to joining the DC. Police officer in his 'rush' misinterpreted this as a block and was further disgruntled by the coffee beans.
IMO, the Volvo driver was not unjustified in his annoyance.
Should this go to court, I'd be interested to see what the objective verdict was.
Sure, bk the guy for the hand gesture but imvho, I didn't see 'careless driving' (if anything mis-judgement by the police driver).

He should have hung back and dropped in behind that Volvo on that short slip road not try and overtake. He made an error.

Oh and, wrong thread - this is Police Interceptors.
True...and although the Volvo driver did cut the cop up on purpose, because the two lanes on the slip road merged at the join with the main carriageway, the cop wouldn't have left enough room for the Volvo driver to stick to a normal course. As others have said: They were both in the wrong but I would've expected a better standard of driving from the traffic officer particularly.GTIR said:

I thought that too. Impatient and irresponsible driving by the copper and whilst the Volvo driver probably shouldn't have reacted, I think many would. He should have hung back and dropped in behind that Volvo on that short slip road not try and overtake. He made an error.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking....He should have hung back and dropped in behind that Volvo on that short slip road not try and overtake. He made an error.
I suppose they are human too.
I've written to Notts CC and also put this on their Facebook page. I'm absolutely outraged by the blatant bullying!
