More than likely she knows the old boy family friend or whatever, she knows where he keeps the giro etc. Lets the BF know about it in passing, who then convinces her to go around and see him, distract him while he takes the money.

The Seat had crashed on relatively soft ground. If it had been the cold hard concrete I would hazard a guess he wouldn't be back to collect his spirit level.
