Traffic Cops BBC1

Enjoyed that episode, a good insight into the investigation work that goes into a fatal accident.
I am surprised the Copper had the time to sit and wait outside the pub for the bloke to get bladdered and then drive. He blew 62 on the evidential machine so perhaps 4 or 5 pints? He would've been sat out there for well over an hour I'd imagine.

I was surprised he sat out there too. I think they said he was there for 90 mins waiting for the guy to re-appear? He claimed he'd only been in there 10-15 mins when asked. Quite strange how nonchalant he seemed about the whole thing!I am surprised the Copper had the time to sit and wait outside the pub for the bloke to get bladdered and then drive. He seemed like a prick. It was his attitude about it pissed me. im Glad he was caught. but also very fascinating about the investigation work aswell

It's possible he'd been drinking before he got there, he wasn't intending to stay long as he left the lights on on his car.

In the dark, on a wet, winding, unlit road, overtaking several cars at well over the speed limit with underinflated tyres.
Still pretty unlucky IMO. Launched by a tree stump, then looked to me like the car rotated 90° and the windscreen hit a tree. He would have died instantly. But a foot either way and he could have survived. That was a very sobering section. But why did the officer then have to say that if he'd done the same thing in town and hit a bus queue that there could have been multiple fatalities. I do 70 on the motorway, if I did that outside a school there could be fatalities. Devalued the whole section.

Yes I thought that too, the two scenarios had little in common or were relevant. Possibly better to have pointed out what could have happened had he hit someone head-on coming the other way as he was leaving the road. At least he only took himself out through his own stupidity.
