This one doesn't really make me want to smas the tv but it is a bit stupid:- the paint one set in Prohibition times. How does she paint that whole room with a1litre tin of paint?

I write a blog on matters which include adverts and advertising and their legality. I follow two other blogs on the specific subject and receive a monthly digest which also includes such matters.

When I saw that advert I was really tempted to make a complaint on that very basis. Just for a laugh in one way but I would have loved to have seen, along the bottom of the advert, One litre of paint is not sufficient to paint a whole room the size of the one illustrated. There are many findings that are just as extreme.

I also found a tin which didn't say it on it.

On that subject, the advert that is guaranteed to get me foaming at the mouth, thankfully no longer shown on telly but I had to endure again at a Speed Awareness Course recently, is the Road Safety advert where the car is under heavy braking with its front wheels locked and rear wheels still rotating and which then hits a pedestrian. There's just so much wrong with it. Firstly the car clearly hasn't got ABS (and what mainstream cars don't these days?), the driver should be Cadence Braking, and almost certainly the car's brakes, brake balance, tyres and dampers aren't in good condition otherwise it wouldn't be locked up at the front and not the rear. The whole thing stinks of being more scripted to an agenda than a Top Gear Special.

One of the worst I have heard is the one for double glazing where they sate that, if you buy their windows, you're helping to fight global warming!

How do they get away with that?

I saw the advert for Airwaves last night. Shows a woman taking an Airwaves gum and then her and her boyfriend go to a room, taking clothes off, etc. But what was a bit disturbing was that there is clearly a shot where his belt drops to the floor and the backing music is Need You Tonight by INXS.

A little insensitive I thought!!

The girlfriend rolls her eyes a lot when those commercials came on as I mention the exact same points:

Dulux one - not enough paint

Car Crash one - rear wheels shouldn't turn

Phones 4 U - DeLorean cannot travel through space, only time.

Also any advert where the employee is celebrating getting one over the 'mean' employer with injury lawyers etc, as a QHSE mananger I know the statistics for folk hurt by simply not following simple rules and paying attention....

I assume the legal side of it is the reason that any animated advert showing how effective toothpaste/mouthwash is, always shows a tiny bit of residual dirt remaining when the animated mouth has used the fancy new product.

I'm with you here. I particularly dislike the Workplace Pensions ad where a happy looking employee says "and even your boss pays your contribution for you". Like companies are sitting on piles of cash just waiting to hand it over to anyone who asks.

Plus it meant in my old job that my company pension contributions went down to cover this. Boo hiss!

The latest annoying advert for me is the Magnum ice cream with it's ridiculously, artificially loud "crunch" when the lady bites into one (I think this one is louder than the busy street with scooters & buses she is standing in).

I'm not sure what makes the makers think a loud crunch makes an ice cream more enticing. It's probably something s*xually liberating for the chocolate obsessed women or possibly even anti-man (like most female targetted ads) in some way that goes way over my head.

Thing is I'm sure the crunch has got louder over the years and developed as their signature "sound" which is really annoying, really, as it falls into the "We're lovin it" (McDonalds), "Express Delivery" (Express newspaper), and the "Der der der de der" (T-Mobile jingle) which pop into the end of an advert to act as some subliminal shorthand for the company when you see/hear it around.

And not forgetting the incredibly annoying "Mmmmm Danone"

Small rant - Phones4U.
The delorean can only transverse time, not space.
So they should end up back in the phone shop, rather than Hollywood.
Well. It's traverse not transverse. Also it kind of can move in space as it's a car smile however it can only do so at the speed of a car, I admit. 88mph max.

The wowcher adverts. Not really sure why, probably just me being a misogynistic old fart, but they really grind my gears.

For me it's any BMW advert, because of that farting signature tune they insist on having at the end of every fking one.

Yeah that blurp at the end is a cacophony. Remember that 3 Series(?) one with the two bell end brothers, they have form.
