That really does have to be the crappiest name for a car ever. And that's including all the utterly stupid ones Japanese car makers have ever come up with.
Scarily I've seen it appear in the greatest adverts ever thread.
Each to their own I suppose. scratchchin

New ad.

Appalling !
Not only appalling, but more irritating than thrush. The previous ad was just as bad, some fat bloke swinging around on a wrecking ball, just tasteless.

Another ad in the same league is the new Zoopla ad where the dippy, annoying 'wife' is in a trance of sorts at the bottom of the stairs as if the house is talking to her. Utterly cringeworthy , at least a good reason to have a mute button.

I know it's a cheap car - but that advert makes it look even worse!!

"We should get one too!... Another one drives a Duster"

I'm not sure what Freddie would make of it, he might approve, it is a tad on the camp side

Just be thankful that that dreadful old trout Sharon Osborne is no longer in their ads.

I just switched on the telly, and saw an advert for Babbel, who I think teach languages in written and spoken form. The voiceover stated that they would teach spelling and pronounciation of the languages. That's right, the voiceover said pronounciation, not pronunciation.

Well done, Babbel. Shot yourself in the foot. I hate this sort of thing, shoddy work by intellectual halfwits.

At the risk of coming over as a heartless b^stard, charity adverts.
Same. Fecking Emotional blackmail. Same with all the other televised charity drives, begging people to give money so they feel better about themselves.

I give to charities I deem worthy/local at random points during the year, not because I see a picture of some random african child pulling water out of a well....
yes

If the charrrridy (mate) work was so important they'd be doing it not paying for expensive tv adverts. I seem to recall the first year the NSPCC did tv adverts they said it was worth it as 48% of their income paid for the adverts & it doubled donations. That's right, it's worth it because we had the same amount of money to spend on kids & fleeced you for twice as much.

The BBC promotional adverts that are supposed to make us feel warm and fuzzy about that bureaucratic, bloated, incompetent behemoth.

Is it American inspired. A 'Duster' was the name for the big long overcoat / mac that cowboys used to wear while out on the trail to keep dry and keep all the dust off.
Possibly trying to evoke some thoughts of freedom out on the range. Doesn't quite have the same ring in Aylesbury though.

I have a particular hatred for the BBC programme trailers that they air seconds before the programme starts, just to remind us why we're on that channel to start with.

Reminds me of the old Monty Python sketch of the BBC presenter facing the camera and saying " Here on the BBC we have a choice of viewing - on BBC2 we have a documentary about African wildlife, and on BBC1 we have me telling you this....."

When I saw the first bit of that ad with just the taxi driver, I thought adverts had hit a low point, then they added the opera singer to somehow take it lower

I'm sure whoever came up with that thought "this will be really funny", but it actually comes across as a bit cringeworthy instead.

It's funny that the smallest thing can really irritate.
The Match.com advert that has a choir singing Teenage Dirtbag. I like that song when Wheatus sang it but when the choir sing it there's a second pause between the lyric "In Keds and..pause...Tube socks"that shouldn't be there and it really grinds my gearsfuriousbiggrin

An absolutely cringeworthy advert, which if I was considering buying a Duster would more than likely make me run a mile in the opposite direction!

Brings to mind the famous Doors episode where the rights to Light My Fire were about to be sold for a Buick advert, until Jim Morrison found out and went bananas! And more recently the court case involving the remaining band members over the multi million dollar offer to buy the rights for the same song for a commercial by Ford.
Depends on your artistic integrity I suppose?
Then again, perhaps the remaining band members of Queen really need the money?

At one time the Beatles song rights were owned by Michael Jackson, who gave permission to use one song in an advert. McCartney complained about it, but the general feeling was that it served Macca right for being a cheapskate and not buying the rights himself when they were up for grabs.
