The latest "we buy any car" advert's where the girl mentions how she could have got more money by selling privately but doesn't have the time to advertise it!
You're so right.
Seeing as how a car is looked on as the second most expensive thing most people buy during their lives, I'm just waiting for WeBuyAnyHouse to come along.
"Oh, I just didn't have time for all that estate agent stuff or people traipsing round being nosey"....

Edit - I've just googled 'We Buy Any House' and realise this does now exist.
I give up rolleyes

There are many spin-offs, though - I noticed a van locally with "wepurchasecarsincheshire.com" or something similar. Not quite as catchy as the original.

I've managed to avoid a lot of ads recently, but I have noticed an ad for a hygiene product with one of "those" names, that makes a big point of saying how proud they are to discuss the issue.

All this tells me is, anyone who can't be bothered or doesn't have the time to advertise their car properly probably has also not had time to service or look after their car properly & cut corners on repairs when possible! Surely the majority of people who have cherished their cars, would undoubtedly want to spend the time in writing a decent advert along with detailed photos etc! We buy any car please go away please!
I have a certain amount of sympathy for the WBAC girl/bloke.

It isn't so much that I don't have time to write an ad, which therefore means I didn't have time to get it serviced. I can prove the servicing to you in this carefully collated file which I will produce.

I think it's more that I can't be bothered to wait in at times when I want to be out for people who won't turn up. Or tell me that they wanted a green car, when it says 'blue' in the ad. Or haggle tiresomely. Or say 'what's the least you will take'? What about if I ask 'what's the most you will pay'?

WBAC have their place. If you don't like them, don't use them.

Exactly this, Boobles obviously has too much time on his hands, some of us can't be bothered sitting around waiting for no shows and time -wasters, all my cars have full main dealer service history yet would still get chucked into WBAC if it suited.

I absolutely do have time to write a detailed advert along with detailed photos and a 100% service record in my immaculate folders in date order! Some of us do take the time in making sure the vehicle & it's records are in as great condition as possible, so if that means"I have to much time on my hands" then so be it!!!! If on the other hand I was trying to sell a £500 banger, then I am with you all the way!

Not a TV advert but one that they play on LBC radio all the time. It's for some cr8ppy ex-poly where supposed students rave about how good the courses are. The bloke they picked sounds very intellectually challenged - probably the worse person you could choose for promoting higher education. Every time I hear the advert in the car I am thinking "man, he sounds thick!" (am I being cruel?)

Anyone mentioned Johnny Depp yet? smile

The onevthst gets right up my nose is the Head and Shoulders ad where the bottle ginger tattooed girl squeals in delight when she sees what clean hair is like. What a tt.

Also another at the end who thinks clean hair is going to allow her to 'pull tonight'. FFS, and women complain about not being taken seriously?!

Also saw this advert earlier whilst watching wheeler dealers & thought a grand + was rather a lot for a toy delorean!!!

Does it really need 130 copies to explain about the delorean? Surely 10 copies at most or is 130 copies about right for all of their magazines?

That is just insane! What a complete rip-off...not to mention that assuming it's a weekly magazine, you'll be finishing the model in about July 2019.

not sure why they do it over such a vast number of issues. Presumably so they are easier to post out? Maybe £110 per issue wouldn't get too many takers!!

I could be wrong here but don't they also offer a "one off" payment to receive all of the copies cheaper and earlier?

Presumably once built you can use it to send your hamster back in time to deposit £1 in a bank account and pay the extortionate cost with the interest. hehe

This popped up on the models forum earlier. Some guy said he worked in the newsagents business and didn't know anyone who had ever completed one of these kits. One guy got half way through then died frown
Apparently if demand for the magazines is to low then the publishers just pull it leaving you with a half finished kit.

In relation to the WBAC ads, isn't the new spiel due to a change in advertising and how companies have to be clearer about what they offer?

The older adverts always used to make it sound like they'd guarantee a set figure that was better than any other dealer, buyer, etc, and that they'd pay in full when the car was dropped off. But in reality the small print, not included in the advert, was much different with regards to renegotiation when the car was dropped off, etc. Even one of the more recent ones showed a woman showering herself with cash giving the impression they paid you in cash which wasn't the case.

Just like phone / internet providers can no longer advertise a really low monthly payment for internet, whilst simultaneously hiding the details of the required monthly line rental charges and additional services that are billed, I think this is why WBAC have done their new adverts in a way to make it clear that you could get more money selling privately rather than selling to them but that they offer a less stressful / quicker service for those that cant be bothered selling privately.

I don't think it is any easier or quicker to sell to them to be honest. I contacted them once purely to see how much they would give me for my Elise & by the time I had filled out there questionnaire, I could have written a detailed advert & published it. The price they offered was 3k baring in mind it was immaculate & others were selling for around 10k & that was even before they expected me to drive 1 hour to their nearest shop for them to evaluate it properly & no doubt offer me even less than 3k! I fully get why these companies exist but I can't see anyone with the love of cars even contacting them anymore! I did few years ago but never again! So yes, I get why people use them, just not for me, hence the advert annoys me.

it did come across like they'd had their knuckles rapped. Still, it will probably have a positive effect for them, as they are now advertising the reason people actually use them! Yea you'll get less money but you'll have (theoretically) far less hassle. At least it now makes them appear like they understand their own niche.
