Soundtrack is good, but it irritates me using F5s as Mig 21s.
Not too many MiG 21s were available to use in films in 1986.
the bad guy planes were mig "28"'s (a non existant plane)and the f5's were just f5's as it was a war games set up.

Also, this is the best film ever, anyone disagreeing will find themselves flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog st outta hong kong!

its been rumoured for years, the story is supposedly that of maverick being the instructor of a young spunky (female) hotshot fighter pilot

It's on and my other half is watching it whilst doing a crossword.

Saw the film years ago ~ IIRC, which is not always the case ~ they used what I remember were Folland Gnats or Midges for some of the inflight footage.

As a boy in the 1950s, my Dad took me to Little Rissington AirField for an open day. There were Folland Gnats or wa it Midges there and a low level flyover by an Avro Vulcan ~ most impressive.

I'm also half-watching the bits I like whilst typing this ~ hey, not only the female of the species can multitask..biggrin

You're thinking of Hot Shots, and Hot Shots Part Deux.

Top Gun was made as a comedy pastiche of these two films, but owing to production problems and a couple of legal issues, was released several years earlier.

Great movie. Preferred Hot Shots. A bit more realistic. Guess I picked the wrong day to quit drinking.

Hang on a minute, wrong movie......getmecoat

This film has one of the best opening sequences you will ever see, downhill from there I'm afraid. I'll be your wingman anytime, yuk....
One of the best opening scenes even if it only lasts a few minutes, the rest of the film is BS.

I tried, I tried but found myself cringing at every other scene.

Shame really as TC can be an excellent actor when he's not posing - cue good films like 'A few good men'
