C4 were trailing this pretty heavily for the last few days - everytime I saw one I wanted to watch it less and less.

I watched Edward Scissorhands and they Abyss this weekend, neither are particularly amazing but if you've not seen them for a while they are worth revisiting

I caught Meet the Parents (and laughed more than I expected to) and The Abyss over the weekend.

The Abyss is pretty good, better book than film though. Orson Scoptt Card actually wrote it while the book was being made and was on set so had lots of access to the directors/producers/actors to probe them for ideas on characterisation etc.

watched the boy in the stripe pyjamas on saturday. didn't really rate it and was quite bored, although the performances of the two adult leads were pretty damn good in the last 5 minutes.

also watched the escapist which for me was ruined by having to have a twist ending. if they'd have stuck to straigh storytelling it would have been fine.

last night i saw eden, which is a dutch film. kinda original quirky euro cinema but again has a naff ending.

The abyss last night although it wasn't the directors' cut, which is 10 times better than the theatrical release.

Crank - switch brain off and enjoy. very dry and very funny.

I watched The Shawshank Redemption for the very first time at the weekend. What have I been missing all these years? IT WAS MARVELLOUS!

The Last Samurai. Not a bad film at all. I was amazed to see Billy Connolly and Timothy Spall (without the Brummie accent) playing major roles in the film.

Good Night and Good Luck

great film and in B&W really captures the essence of the time. There was so much smoking though, you don't notice how little if any you get in movies until you see one with a lot in.

Oceans 11 (remake)

Very cool film

Watched "Smokin' Aces" last night. Quite well done I thought, liked the way it works around introducing all the groups of characters before getting them all together for the main event. Even Ben Afflek's good in it, and Alicia Keys looks stunning.

Finally got around to watching Deliverance last week. Brilliant film. Much better than I expected.
Got Citizen Kane ready to watch too. Trying to go through all the classics that I should have seen but haven't.

I watched Taken for the first time last night; from the reviews I read I didn't like the look of it when it first came out, but some friends rated it. Finally saw it on Sky last night; great film. The first 30 minutes/setup is almost cringeworthy, but once the action starts it gets really good. It does a few things you don't expect it to do as well.

For all those who liked this, I'd also recommend Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon - similar storyline/arc and equally as satisfying to watch smile

People forget they are watching a film with Mr Day-Lewis as the lead role, he is so convicing its scary.

Have Valkyrie,Defiance,Saints and Soldiers,State of Play and Inglorious Basterds to choose from for tonight, which ones should I watch first?
