Does the 2nd "cockney geezer" sherlock holmes improve after 15 minutes?
Yes some absolutely stunning scenes. especially the slow mo runnning through the woods.
No, it's pretty dull and quite boring and drags on forever.
Throuroughly enjoyed it personally, although if you weren't a fan of the first film it is unlikely to change your opinion.
Maybe if I hadn't seen the first one I would have liked it better, I thought it was basically the same film, so was a bit bored. Too much action not enough sleuthing as well. Almost worth watching for moriarty though, he was superb.
It seemed to me that some scenes in the early part of the film were Lock Stock with mutton chops.

All formulaic - and is slo-mo now expected in every single action film?

Still, I 'spose there's only so much one can put in a film that hasn't been done a thousand times before.
Oh well, you can't please everyone I suppose.

At the end of the day it is still a Guy Ritchie film so not suprising that it would have his 'style' stamped on it.

I thought the scenes on the train and in the armament factory were really well done and Moriarty (Jared Harris, son of the late great Richard Harris in case anyone wasn't aware) was excellent.

Yes, he was good.

Didn't know he was Harris Jnr, I did know he was Mr Emilia Fox early on.

It was also good to see Dennis Pennis

So, not all bad smile

A lot of people don't know who he is. I guarantee if you watch it again you'll wonder how you didn't realise.

Dennis Pennis?

Well certainly in the earlier wars, officers had to have a moustache, it was compulsory - or so I read recently.

Look at any "working man" photos from that era and you will find nearly everyone DID have a moustache. A photo of some miners from that era I saw recently showed a vast collection of hairy lippage, some akin to a yard broom. Doubt they said "tally-ho" much though I'm sure they didn't utter profanities to anything like the degree our current generation does.
You are probably right but it did seem a bit sterotyped.

Dreadful film though.

Ah, mis-identified, it was Paul Anderson.

Funnily enough, he was in an episode of Lewis the other week & I was wondering who he was.

Watched "A Night to Remember" on Bluray last night. What - a black & white film in HD? Superb. The detail is astounding and the film is terrific. Puts Camerons overblown effort in the shade.

That film used some footage from the Nazi version.

The Next 3 Days - Russell Crowe's wife gets busted for murder. How to get her back? Entertaining thriller. 7.5/10

Submarine - Welsh teenager falls in love for the first time in this comedy/drama uplifted by Paddy Considine as a bemulleted ninja guru. OK but not that funny. 6/10

Haywire

I was looking forward to this film, a female rogue agent played by MMA fighter Gina Carano is trying to find out who betrayed her etc. With a star studded cast what could possibly go wrong ? Unfortunately everything, this film is a complete flop, the fight scenes are ok but the direction and pace of the film is crap. Two hours of my life I won't be getting back.

Yep, very average indeed. Reminded me of the film Hanna. Similar kind of story, good cast (Banna, Blanchett) but also very disappointing.

Drive - nothing wrong with this film, don't go exoecting remorseless car based action, it's a slow, moody, action/drama with a good soundtrack, some decent killing and a little car based stuff. I liked it alot...but I like revenge/hitman films and this one is slick. 9/10

Seems to really divide opinion. I personally found a lot wrong with it...

Dull, 1-Dimensional characters and story, tries too hard to be "arty", poor script, Ron Perlman was dreadful, massively overrated by critics.

Very disappointed, and before you ask I wasnt expecting loads of action and car chases.

The soundtrack was by far the best thing about the film, so I bought that rather than the Blu Ray.

Watched this last night and to be honest was a bit bored of it toward the end. I don’t know why because on paper it sounded great, but it was just a bit too fake for my liking.

Also the girl in it annoyed the hell out of me, she seem to pander to every outcast cliché going. Can see why people liked it however.

Blitz - Above average London serial cop killer film with Jason Statham & Paddy Considine. Good performance from Aidan Gillen (the Wire, Game of Thrones) as the killer. 8/10
