I watched Buried last night. Shot entirely in a coffin, so was curious to see how it could work. Thought it was great. A very very different film, and not at all 'Hollywood'. It's nice to see some risky film making for a change as it could have been dreadful given the premise.
8/10 from me.

Are we not allowed to say Odeon? Yeah, a standard ticket here in Lincoln is just under a tenner, and same again for a drink

blindswelledrat said: Interesting. Has anyone else seen this? Ive heard one "really good" and one "f king terrible" so far so Im in complete stalemate as to whether to watch it now. Thought it was average at best as did a good friend of mine who also has decent/alternative film taste. My girlfriend loved it and thought Thor was hot, Kristen retard was lovely and it was really exciting (but she is a huge twilight/potter fan). Couple of other friends seemed to like it but they're men who are generally easily pleased. I thought Kristen Stewart was a terrible choice (she's not got the looks imo) and really can't act. I'm sure she suited twilight but in this she just had no emotion at all and never smiled. It was also too long, and overacted by most of the rest of the cast. The dwarves were quite amusing. The director also ripped off a scene from Princess Mononoke almost entirely (and that film is far superior in every way). 6/10, at a push.

Adenauer said: Rumpelstiltzkin??? He's not scary, you big girl Ha! So I am not the only one who watches that! I have liked Robert Carlyle ever since he was the psycho baddie in Cracker. Through Trainspotting, Hamish MacBeth (such a crush on him then!), The Full Monty, through to Stargate Universe and now Once Upon a Time he always has a way of playing a really horrible character that you get to quite like.

'Little White Lies' - a French film. Holds your attention and has a great soundtrack.
It's one of these 'mix of friends' type of films but as with most French productions isn't sentimental. Worth watching if you're a bit bored with the 'Hollywood explosions for 14 year old boy' films.

the big lebowski - 9/10 cracking film, characters are fantastic. Plot is great and generally quite funny. Only down side is the dude reminds me of my unemployed mate. Like the dude hes got long hair a beard always wears a dressing gown as well as talking utter s te about nothing whilst being stonned. Hot Rod - 8/10 A film about a teen who wants to be a stunt man and tries to jump his moped over various vans and pools. He then trys to do a big jump to raise money for his step dad (step dad needs a heart transplant) so he can finally beat him up and earn his respect. It was actually amusing, some of the stunt scenes looked bloody sore but worth a wee watch if you fancy a light hearted funny movie. The Mist - 8/10 A stephen king novel turned into a film. plot - A freak storm unleashes a species of bloodthirsty creatures on a small town, where a small band of citizens hold up in a supermarket and fight for their lives. Actually quite tense and a superb ending the special effects let it down a little in parts. But worth a watch.

Couple of visits to the cinema: Rock of Ages last night, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. Story was flimsy, just an excuse for one cheesy soft-rock/anthem to meld into another... Leads (young performing arts types) were very good, older actors were all surprisingly good also. And yes, Tom Cruise can hold a (possibly post-production enhanced?) note. The missus, however, thought the whole thing absolute bobbins...
Snow White and the Huntsman: enjoyed it also -that Vampire bird even managed to crack a smile at one point. Standard fantasy hokum, quite dark in places, and with some good fights for the adults.
