The Wicker Man (1973) - on ITV4 tonight at 2100 - an incredibly creepy & horrifying film - highly recommended.
I watched the remake recently, it was not as bad as I thought it would be. A few tweaks and it could have been very good.
Edward Woodward is ace in this though.

I had the full uncut version. The uncut bit is grainy, and weird looking, but still makes more sense as to why they chose him. Brilliant film.

This Means War

An action rom com with Chris Pine going head to head with his CIA partner Tom Hardy for the affections of Reese Witherspoon, very funny and very well filmed with good action scenes. A solid 8/10 from me for this style of film biggrin

^ Good film Ben.

I've just watched the new Spiderman.
Really enjoyed it. Great twist from the original.
For people who do watch it, stay till after the credits for a 20 second clip smile

The Frighteners

One of Peter Jacksons early films, with Michael J Fox as a conman using ghosts to scam people. It is showing its age with some mid 90's CGI but still a good film 7/10

The brave one

The best way i can describe this film in a few words is a female version of Taken. A local radio DJ in New York is happy in life and about to get married when her and her partner are mugged/beaten in a brutal attack leaving him dead. She slowly overcomes her fears of going outside and goes on a revenge spree. Its not as intense as Taken and there is no ex special forces person like in Taken and Bourne, instead it focuses more on the emotion and trama caused to an innocent person and while there is still action and revenge its fairly bleek and emotional film.Very good acting and direction with the film and while there are no massive twists or shocks its good enough to keep you glued until the end.

Hugely under rated and a serious bargain on blu ray for £4 (amazon)

8/10

Outlander http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462465/
liked this 6/10.

In 709 AD, in the Iron Age, a spacecraft crashes in the Viking kingdom of Herot, Norway, and the pilot Kainan survives. He predator, Moorwen, that he was transporting, had escaped. While chasing the alien monster, he finds a village completely destroyed and is arrested by the warrior Wulfric, believing that he killed the locals - Kainan is brought to Herot as a prisoner.

Last week I watched 'The Last House on the Left' after watching the re-make of 'I Spit On Your Grave' - both disturbing, but at the same time good films.

Searching for Sugarman

at the secret screening last night. I didn't know a thing about it, and it's not my normal thing. The screening ended with a 5 or 6 song set from the man himself.

Quite a night out, very different to what I'd normally do, and very enjoyable.

I refuse to believe that is the same woman....almost attractive in a funny kinda way...

Outlander - 6/10 not bad but a bit "13th Warrior" (which has been a guilty pleasure of mine over the years)...

Centurion - Michael Fassbender and a host of other brits running away (its got Omar in it from Four Lions bro) 6/10...

biglaugh I love that description of it.
Just a film about running away.
I quite liked it until I read that synopsis and now I think less of it somehow.

2 sets of parents meet to discuss their children who have had a fight.... quite short, but beautifully scripted, cringeworthy humour...I liked it alot...7.5/10
Im baffled! One of the worst films I've ever seen, seriously 0/10.
horses for courses Funky.....7/10 from over 33,000 IMDB votes(which I found out after my post...)
...suggests it's not all bad..
Thought this was really good. Havnt looked into it, but im sure its a stage play or something adapted. Excellent insight into the human affections, interactions and much of the bullst in life.
Very interesting. However no one gets shot in it, and Im still trying to figure out who the hero is wink

'true story' about a simple security guard who is good at taking a beating and dishing them out. Spotted by a hockey team coach he gets signed up to just protect the good players by beating up the rival team players!i know next to nothing about ice hockey in America so not sure how much of the story is true, but still proved to be a good watch. more drama with abit of comedy thrown in rather than a all out comedy. However interesting storyline with lots of fighting is enough to keep you entertained, abit on the blood thirsty side but if you dont mind that then worth a watch.

7.5/10
Many thanks for the heads up on this one, once again this thread delivers! Absolutely loved this film 8.5 from me biggrin

I watched The Town last night. Excellent gritty film set in Boston focusing on a gang of bank robbers. Ben Affleck is great in the lead role. 8/10.

I wanted to love this but just couldnt - on stage I'm sure it works but as a movie it is grim and feels very false. It needs to natural confines of a stage to work best - transposed into "real life" their staying in the situation they find themselves makes no sense.
