Good films I watched this weekend

Looper
Went in knowing it was about time travel but not much more. Pleasantly surprised to find a decent story and some genuinely freaky (but not scary) moments that kept me on the edge of my seat. Really well paced, perfect length and only a few pit falls with the time travel aspect of meeting yourself etc.

The story revolves around the passengers of a yachting trip in the Atlantic Ocean who, when struck by mysterious weather conditions, jump to another ship only to experience greater havoc on the open seas.
Whoa! Head-fk! Had to look up the what the hell had happened after the film and now it makes a bit more sense so might watch it again.
Some brilliant scenes, some solid acting, some major plot-holes / question marks. Any film that leaves you scratching your head is good by me.

Snow white and the huntsman.
I'll start with the good bits. Well, erm, it's got nick frost in it.....
Badly acted, directed, pointless reimagining of a classic fairly tale.
Tripe 2/10
I completely agree, up to about 45 mins (perhaps even 30mins) into the film, because that's when I turned it off.I'll start with the good bits. Well, erm, it's got nick frost in it.....

I was sat thinking to myself "I simply do not care what happens, and could be doing something far more valuable with my time" so turned it off. Very rare for me to do that to a film, even a poor one!

'The Wages of Fear' - Black and white, French film, in the vein of 'Ice Cold in Alex'. A group of down on their luck types, looking for work, take a dangerous job taking explosives on a treacherous route to an oil field. I enjoined it.
Remade in '77 as Sorcerer (recommended by tigerkoi - thanks), directed and refreshed by Friedkin (Exorcist, To Live And Die In L.A.). It's a good film and recalls memories of another edge-of-the-seat trucking b/w: Hell Drivers.I watched Step Brothers, I found some of it funny. Bit hit and miss like Ferrell films can be but a few guffaws as well.
Sounds intriguing. I'll keep an eye out.
