When an unusual classified ad inspires three cynical Seattle magazine employees to look for the story behind it, they discover a mysterious eccentric named Kenneth, a likable but paranoid supermarket clerk, who believes he's solved the riddle of time travel and intends to depart again soon. Together, they embark on a hilarious, smart, and unexpectedly heartfelt journey that reveals how far believing can take you
Currently running 93% positive on RottenTomatoes.com and I can see why, even that Grumpy bd Roger Ebert liked it?!?. Really enjoyed it, very smart movie with some really good characters. I would even go so far as saying that yes, it really is a 'feelgood' movie. Try to watch it without any spoilers just as I did as it does become a really nice ride that will have you totally engaged with the leads by the end.

Safe - Another cracking Statham action flick
5/10 for meThought Statham was good but an awful plot (by action flick standards) and overall dull. Too many plot lines which are not sufficiently explained.
Kill his son, wife and unborn kid anf he just takes it? Cmon
Yeah right a gang who lost money on a fight would now follow him daily and kill anyone who he talks to
Dont believe in computers so rely on the one kid
Man On Fire
7.7 on iMDB and heard some positive comments about it being a great 'revenge' film...
So was disappointed to find it fairly average - just couldn't get on with the heavy handed 'old MTV music video' style. Some decent acting though.

Shutter - If one day I show my kids this film, I'll probably have to explain that people once had to go to a shop or a room with a red light before they could view their photographs. Not that I would show children this film, since it contains more scares in one scene than most horrors manage throughout. The basic story concerns a young photographer and his partner who run over and seemingly kill a young woman on a deserted country road. He then starts seeming mysterious effects on his photographs, which quickly progresses into terrifying visions of the woman he seemingly killed.
I do wonder why Asian horror films are normally so much scarier than their Western counterparts. Perhaps it's because it's depicting a culture you don't fully understand, but contains sufficient parallels with our ghost stories, or with subtitles you're relying on someone else to tell you what the characters are saying. The Director certainly does a fine use of building a bleak atmosphere, and that underlying current of dread which leaves the audience thinking something could happen at any moment. As more background is revealed you may be somewhat less inclined to feel sympathy for the lead, but certainly ever more interested as he's racked with ever more guilt over the increasing apparitions.
This all culminates in an ending which - I'm not going to lie - freaked me out. I'm not saying that I believe in ghosts, but the character's sudden realisation of the spirit's true nature is seriously creepy. I am aware there is a US remake, but I would put money on it being nowhere as good as this.

Watched The Other Guys last night. I didn't realise beforehand that it was from the guy who did Anchorman, so wasn't expecting much, but it had me in stitches. A good spoof cop film with some genuinely funny scenes. 8/10.
Funniest film I've seen in years, I have had many repeat watches now and there is so much going on that I missed in the first viewing.9/10 for me.
