Don't think I'v ever seen a film where so many positive reviews point out how good it looked or sounded without mentioning much else.
'Drive' is up there...but then it doesn't really pretend to be anything other.....
Drive always plays the 'arty' or 'moody' card though in an attempt to be in some way superior.

A dull and vacuous experience IMHO. Great soundtrack though.
Now I thought 'Drive' was a load of old cobblers - complete waste of a few hours.

Agreed.
Something I have come to notice is that for a film to be brilliant to me, a lot of people must find it rubbish and vice versa.
Any films that everyone likes are almost always average and unmemorable (with the odd exception)
There are many films where I can understand that if you dont empathise with the charachters/situation then they are actually rubbish which is why films like The Blair Witch Project divides eveyone. I thought it was brilliant because it made me become those three people for its duration. Without that it is just a st film about three people camping and some patterned sticks.
And there are plenty that I just dont get.

I liked Drive and Prometheus very much, not int he same way.. I guess I must be a vacous and shallow movie goer hehe .... Prometheus had SO many more WTF moments though, they annoyed, didn't stop it looking and sounding lovely though...

My point was that on blu-ray it looked great, If someone cannot afford a blu-ray player then they need to look at their out goings as they now cost peanuts.
Peanuts in isolation perhaps. But you'll need to buy bluray discs too. And you'll need an HD telly to watch it on, decently large to be able to distinguish the high def image improvements to the fullest. Then a goodly-sized living room so you're not pressed up against the screen like a filthy child at the Argos window. And a colossal DFS sofa to remain comfortable during marathon film watching sessions.

Let me look at my outgoings...

Brass Target. A film where the aim is to make fiction congruent with fact. A story that trickles along tying in elements of the US Third Army looting Nazi gold, and a labyrinthine plot that culminates in General George S Patton's death...

George Kennedy visually makes the famous general as he segues from three to four star, but of course isn't a patch on George C Scott. John Cassevetes, Robert Vaughan and Max Von Sydow all star. Anyone interested in one of the more fascinating side stories of WWII, the continental-wide loot by the Nazis, should read 'Nazi Gold' by Ian Sayer.

Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection. Really awful. In the space of one film Chuck Norris goes from being a great team player in the original, to the ultimate unitary fighting force. Odd.

Thunderbirds. Sophia Myles - massive tick. But for the rest of it....you just have to wonder: how did a film studio let it get sent out as such a poor end-product. Made a franchise reboot dead in the water.

Sounds very intriguing. Probably includes some Knights Templar activity too. In addition the Vatican are always in reasonable proximity whenever getting in the details.

I think I'll put an order in at Amazon. Thank you.

The Diving Bell & The Butterfly

French Film

Poignant, emotional, funny and heart warming story of the editor of Elle magazine who is struck down by locked in syndrome and manages to write a book. Based on a true story.

Not something i'd normally watch, but i'm glad i did. 9/10

Harmless enjoyable popcorn flick.

I don't base my opinions on what others think, why do you?

I rarely watch anything again, always something new to see. I saw the film, enjoyed it and so for me stands.

When I see a Ronseal film that is what it is, I judge it it as such and not by the standard of a film that sets out to be special.

Each to their own, some folks on here enjoyed cabin in the woods and Killer Joe hehe!!!
