They are just the ones you notice. If you dont see any humour in them, then so be it.
Out of interest, if you abbrieviate my username, how would you conclude that the three words in it are Blinds Welled Rat? It is not a casual dig as many people abbreviate it similarly, Im just curious
That would be BWR...Skylinecrazy wrote BSW.

So you are both wrong.

Killer Joe - 8/10, if I didn't know any better I'd think it was a Quentin Tarantino film. It was down right weird, but very enjoyable. When the movie came out on very limited screens, ii recall M. McCoughany (sp?) Was under fire for the character he played and the basic premise of the plot. Some organizatios demanded a NC17 rating. I disagree, I didn't view anything so outrageous it needed a NC17, except maybe the chicken scene hehe
The chicken scene was uncomfortable. hehe

From what I read the NC17 suggestion was based on the couple of full-frontals (even if they did use merkins!) and the scene with the tin-can near the end.

Interesting film though, worth a watch.

The Avengers - Loved it. Didn't take itself seriously (flying aircraft carrier ftw)
That scene was pandering to the fanboys at the expense of any right minded adult.

It stood out because the rest of the film is so grounded in reality isn't it?

It's pure spectacle, nothing more and nothing less.

And when you say "fanboys" I assume you mean "target audience"?
Yes - but the other bits where earth physics dont apply were explained in entire movies....I missed the "gravity doesnt apply to boats" film! Why not have Sam Jackson fly, Neo styleee!

And fan boys are loud....but they arent the bulk of any audience (unless its a midnight showing on the first weekend and fancy dress is required)

To be fare you're the one asking us to suspend our disbelief that Tom Cruise will make a good Jack Reacher. A flying boat is more credible than Tom Cuise being 6' 5" biggrin

Superman III. It's funny how they restrict Margot Kidder to absolute bit part status after I & II, but the first half clicks along merrily with Richard Pryor fooling around, and of course Pamela Stephenson and Annete O'Toole mean that Lois Lane is easily forgotten. The slapstick routine at the start, and Pryor's progression to salami slicing, so soon after 35 weeks on the dole is a good laugh, but the 2nd half lags badly.

Just seen Argo - really very good true story account of hostages being 'smuggled' out of Iran in 1980. Excellent turns from John Goodman and Alan Arkin - 8/10

Yeah, it's been awhile since I last saw it, and when it came up I could have sworn it was how I remembered IV. But that's me being a dummy, and forgetting how that [IV] story line went.

Watched Haywire last night, good action film & great cast.
Well reccommended. 7/10

Also caught Apocalypse now on TV. I must have seen it a hundred times before, though not in the last 10 years.
On a big TV, good surround system, it looks & feels amazing. HD really makes it shine.
Watching it through again makes you realize just what an amazing job Coppola did, the whole thing & everyone involved.
Remarkable. 10/10 from me.

I might have to go back and rewatch Apocalypse Now - always thought it a jumbling piece of crap and probably the most overrated film of all time wrapped up in a great cinematography finished off by Brando's horrific ramblings.

Skyfall 6/10

it left me wanting to be honest. After having the Bond of Casino Royal, it felt almost as if they were softening him up to turn him into the poshbond we had with Brosnan.

my bigest gripe/annoyance -

with the villain being an ex 00 agent, why wasnt he a more formidable match to Bond and MI6. it struck me as odd for someone who would have had all the training he'd had and all the brains he clearly had that he seemed to bumble his way about getting to M to have his revenge. i know it would have made for a short film otherwise, but the potential was there to have some epic battles for quite evenly matched foe.

Silva wasn't an ex 00? Just former MI6?

Haywire is the worst film I've seen this year with terrible performances from the big name actors frown

Agree regarding Apocalypse Now smile

Watched Crazy, stupid love and enjoyed it well enough smile

Lay The Favourite - 4/10

Given the big name cast I thought this may be a reasonable film... despite some amusing bits the main character, Beth, is so brain numbingly irritating (despite being fit) that it detracted from the rest of the film. I think somebody cast their niece amongst the big names to give the bint a break. Don't bother.
